Hobson will play Saturday with 'sprained' wrist

Posted on: March 19, 2010 2:08 pm

New Mexico standout Darington Hobson is expected to play Saturday against Washington despite a wrist injury, a source close to the program told CBSSports.com on Friday.

The source described the wrist as "severely sprained."

But there is no fracture.

So Hobson will be cleared to play provided he can play through the pain.

A junior college transfer, Hobson injured his left wrist during Thursday's win over Montana, but still finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. He's averaging 16 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists this season. He was the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year.

Oh hell QB, props to you, that was the funniest thing I've read for awhile!  I hope Hobson plays and the Lobos kick some butt today!

Unless Elizabeth Lambert is defending the post, Washington wins this game easily.

What do you mean in the sentence "You do realize that Washington and Montana earlier in the season, and that Washington won by 4 points right?"  Are you refering to the game they played on 11/29/09?  That was 5 games into the season and obviously all of the teams in the tournament with the exception of Texas got better.  Your observation is pathetic, also you should learn how to form a sentence with the correct grammer, I would have stated as such: Washington and Montana played or met earlier in the season.

UNM beat Cal too, don't forget. Or did you even know that? Texas A&M, UNLV, Dayton, BYU twice, UTah twice, Texas Tech, etc.

UW is not the only team that's been winning lately.

Anyway, good luck to both teams!

I find it interesting how the vast majority always writes off the Lobos.  First of all, UNM WILL NOT GET BLOWN OUT!  The biggest margin of victory against UNM this season is 12 points.  The Lobos play every game close, regardless of the level of competition.  I really don't see what makes UW fans so damn confident.  Last time I checked, the Lobos are the 3 seed, and the Huskies are the 11 seed.  UNM didn't have to win the conference tourney to get their seed either.  To the last post: you have no way of knowing how UW would have done against Montana without actually playing them.  And it's not like this is the first hot team that UNM has played (and beat) this season.  BYU had a double digit win streak going when UNM shut them down the first time.  They had another little streak going into game 2, before losing to the Lobos again.  Finally, everybody wrote UNM off before playing Texas A&M in Houston.  But UNM walked away with a victory.

In my opinion, the only way UNM doesn't have a good chance against the Huskies is if Hobson doesn't play due to his injury.

You do realize that Washington and Montana earlier in the season, and that Washington won by 4 points right? All of a sudden your comment sounds pretty pathetic.

Why are you guys such haters, you know the Lobos are going to the sweet 16, oh ya I forgot the PAC10 was a real powerhouse this year.  How many of your 8 straight wins have been against ranked teams, your only decent win was in December against Texas A&M.  As far as a lull you should be saying lullaby, bye bye.Money mouth

New Mexico has no chance if UW continues to play the way they do. UW is to deep and the on ball defense will be to much for UNM with the outstanding guard play by UW. If MBA stays out of foul trouble and produces like he has been the last 2 months then the game will be over by halftime. UW would have destoryed Montana and UNM couldnt put them away. montana's big man owned UNM and if they cant stop the Montana bigman than a more athletic, skilled MBA with his 7'4 wingspan will dominate the front court of UNM. the only chance they have is if UW shots dont fall.

GO DAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!

If both teams play like they did yesterday then yes, Washington will easily beat UNM.

But, the Lobos haven't had back-to-back bad games this season so I do expect them to play better and when they are playing well they are going to be a handful for UW. Could be a damn good game.

Go Lobos!!!
