Kentucky assistant Rod Strickland was arrested this weekend for DUI, running a red light, having expired tags and insurance violations.

The 43-year-old former NBA point guard nearly struck another vehicle and failed a sobriety test Sunday around 3 a.m., according to a police report. The report added that Strickland refused a breathalizer but did have the smell of alcohol on his breath. Kentucky officials have yet to comment.

Strickland just completed his first season at Kentucky.

He reportedly has three previous DUI arrests.

So...Strick was too drunk to stand on one foot, count to ten or say his a b c's, ran a red light, had expired registration, insurance lapsed, refuses to take a breath test nabs his 4th DUI, and pleads NOT guilty and he's not losing his job...does the program really need to hang on to a loser like this?.

This is nothing new. I was living in DC when he played for the Bullets/Wizards and he was busted for making illegal u-turns in front of the club and was drunk while driving. This is what he does and I suspect Kentucky knew this but since it was a package deal (Calipari + his staff from Memphis or nothing) and Kentucky was desperate for Cal they accepted all the baggage in exchange for an incredible season. Seems like an even trade-off to me.

Incredible!  I re-read the article several times, and didn't see Calipari's name mentioned once!  Are you suggesting that Calipari had ANYTHING to do with Strickland's DUI?  Next thing you know, Calipari will be responsible if anyone with a smidgen of Italian ancestry gets in trouble for something.

TigerMan2400, you need to do the following:   1.  Find a doctor to replace the liquid-filled nubbin at the top of your spinal cord with something a tad more brain-like.  2.  Develop some rudimentary form of critical thinking.  3.  Get on with your sub-mammalian life.

Hope I've been of some help...

All you guys posting here innocent? None of you have a DUI? Glass houses.

No, I don't have any DUIs, let alone FOUR!!! The guy should be arrested, thrown in jail and permanently lose his license. Sadly, this likely won't happen until he kills someone in an accident.
