Wright State's Brad Brownell has agreed in principle to be Clemson's next basketball coach, a source told CBSSports.com on Tuesday morning.

An official announcement is expected later Tuesday.

Brownell first spoke with Clemson officials last week and then again Monday after Mississippi State's Rick Stansbury rejected an offer from the ACC school. Brownell has since received an offer and accepted, meaning he'll replace Oliver Purnell, who signed a seven-year deal worth more than $15 million with DePaul last week.

Clemson finished 22-11 this season.

The Tigers lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Brownell has won at least 20 games four consecutive seasons at Wright State.

The Indiana native was a finalist for the Indiana job that Tom Crean accepted two years ago.
