Former McDonald's All-Americans David and Travis Wear are transferring from North Carolina and hoping to get their releases "as early as Thursday," the players' father, Dave Wear, told Frank Burlison of the Long Bech Press-Telegram.

"When they return home (to Huntington Beach, Calif.), we will sit down as a family and review their basketball and academic options," said Dave Wear. "... They decided they didn't want to return to North Carolina."

David Wear averaged 10.5 minutes per game this season while Travis Wear averaged 10.3.

The departures leave UNC with just two experienced players who are taller than 6-feet-4 (Tyler Zeller and Jon Henson) on next season's roster. The Tar Heels' three-player recruiting class does not include any power forwards or centers.

Wear twins reportedly transferring from UNC

I can't deny that losing the Wears is going to hurt during the 2010-11 campaign.  We're already very thin in the post.  Without the Wears, we'll be super thin.  I don't think losing the Wears hurts us long-term.  Frankly, they haven't really showed any signs that they would ever be premier players.  The timing of their decision really stinks.  I guess the silver lining is that we'll have 2 open scholarships to use for 2011 and/or 2012.  There is so much talent available in the upcoming classes, that Roy can reload the post.   Despite losing the Wears, UNC can still have a very good season.  The 2010-11 team will be much, much better offensively with the personnel coming in and with the experience that guys like Henson, Zeller, LDII, Strickland, and McDonald got this year.  HB is the truth.  He'll instantly add a dynamic to this team that was sorely missed in 2009-10.

The "Wears" vs. The "Plumlees"

Wonder if the more quality roles the Plumlee's have played in K's offensive had begun to "wear" on the Wears? Miles and Mason always seemed to be intergrated into the game in imnportant roles where's the Wear's playing time always seemed to be in support roles, giving breathers to Roy's chosen ones. Even Henson seemed to be a more important piece of Roy's gamplan every week

The guy who beats his kids in public and has the nerve to even speak on downgrading the game and losing integrity.  Plus he is a racist announcer on ESPN commentating on a game dominated by black people.  He should have just said what was in his heart "I dont like the game anymore b/c there is so few Cole Aldrich's."  He is one of the most racist people I have ever heard get to speak live on TV.  He makes references about the white kids all game, every game.  There was one KU game where he said they should bring in Morningstar for collins b/c morningstar was a better more fundamentally sound player.  Get the F outta here

You get the F outta here. His kids played hard and went to class and graduated. He made his kids take care of their future as well as teaching them basketball. Im not racist, but tell me why all the european players, mostly white, do well in the NBA. They all can shoot and dribble..aka fundamentals!!!! Say what you want,Im a duke fan, take the White boys from Duke and put their fundamentals against UKs or KUs stud freshmen. Dukes kids, are hands down inferior athletes, but all shoot the ball well, handle the rock well, and play defense. Coach Knight has made his mistakes, as we all have, but he recruited with class. You say some coaches will go to church if thats what the familys of recruits do, Some coaches are moral and religous, like Coach K, and they dont have to pretend to do the things Cal and others must pretend to care about.  He doesn't like the game anymore bc it is looking more like the nba, all one on one and no motion on offense and no defense. Say what you want about black and white, but stereotypes exist for a reason. And Maybe he likes Cole aldridge because he stayed in school for a while rather then throwing away a free education which is what most of the top recruits do these days. Ill Take coach K and Ole Roy any day bc they build their programs from year to year and have team chemistry.

I think the transfer has more to do with personal (perhaps family) mattersI'm betting you are correct...could be they are just homesick...I will miss their aggressive play. They both know how to hustle.

*Cal is a bum...plain and simple he leaves issues behind...Good bet would say he is heading to the Bulls right before the KU debacle unfolds...SEE YA

Listed below are the actual number of NCAA final fours each coach has made and how many have been taken away from him.

John Wooden 12 FF 10 Championships   0 Vacated FF
Dean Smith    11 FF 2 Championships   &nbs
p; 0 Vacated FF
Coach K     &nbs
p;   11 FF 4 Championships   &nbs
p; 0 Vacated FF
Bobby Knight   5 FF  3 Championships   &nbs
p; 0 Vacated FF
Roy Williams   7 FF  2 Championships   &nbs
p; 0 Vacated FF
Tom Izzo     &
nbsp;  6 FF  1 Championship
;  0 Vacated FF
Rick Pitino
;  5 FF  1 Championship
;  0 Vacated FF
John Calipari   2 FF  0 Championships   &nbs
p; 2 Vacated FF

The writing is on the (john) wall. And guess what buddy, coaches dont get infractions, schools do, and Cal has had 2 full seasons vacated bc of those infractions you speak of. How can you hope to build UK back to prominence the way he recruits one and done players. If the NBA ever changes the rules to be more like college baseball and football; either go straight to the nba or go to college for at least 2 or 3 years, the program will fall apart. He isnt a good in game coach. The only time he has had deep runs in the NCAA tourny is when he has great players to bail him out, its happened a few times, but his coaching couldnt come through to get the championship. If he cared more about free throws, Memphis would have won the championship, but of course given it back to Kansas after the investigation. UK will be not good next year, the incoming players are not as good as Wall and cousins and without an upperclassmen like Patterson, they will be bad, and cal will leave for the nba.

Neither one was double digit scorers, one was 3.5 a game and one was 3 pts a game. They were double digits in mintues each averaging about 10 mintues a game.

I agree with what you are saying..Coming from a depth point it could really hurt. But with the twins just getting filler time on the court maybe Coach Williams saw something that they might not work out on being UNC Basketball players....

I have no idea about a similar SAT problem happening w/Maggette...mainly because I care as little about Duke as I do UK...but, to my knowledge of the matter (which is certainly not extensive), Duke didn't have to vacate any wins.  Besides, I was simply replying to a previous post about having "any questions" pertaining to the # of NCAA infractions by a list of coaches - you see, while none of the previously mentioned coaches listed have any NCAA infractions, I'm pretty sure @ least one of them has had to vacate both victories & Final Four / Championship Game appearances.

At any rate, I'm here checking-out these comments because the story they're associated with had something to do with the team I follow (UNC)...glad you're hear wasting your time telling everyone to "show some class" after typing you've "never seen so many douche bags" (which screams class).

Good Luck to UK & Calipari

Gotta love UK fans.  They worship Calipari and put him on a pedestal after one year of coaching at UK.  They are the same fans that were bashing him and hating on him when the allegations came out involving Rose and the SAT scandal.  As soon as he comes to Kentucky though...every fan is talking about a national championship.  AIN'T gonna happen.  He'll never have enough of the team basketball mentality to win it all.  He should be in the NBA.
