Legendary basketball coach John Wooden is hospitalized and in grave condition in Los Angeles, multiple sources told CBSSports.com on Thursday.

Wooden, 99, coached UCLA from 1948-75 and won 10 national titles.

He's considered college basketball's greatest coach.

I, for one, must apologize because I did read the Washington Post article. I hope he makes it. I'm a big fan of Wooden. It'd be nice for him to recover yet again (as he often has from serious illnesses including PNEUMONIA in the past few years).  I'd love to see him celebrate his 100th birthday in October. Hang in there, coach!  It'd also be nice for him to waive to the crowd at the 1st game of the UCLA season and for this 'premature' death story add to his allure and history.  GO FOR ANOTHER 10 IN A ROW, COACH!!  Years, that is! :)

RJR, as a young man you can see Coach at his best.  Read the books, talk to someone who has known, or even met him.  Coach will say that being a good coach wasn't near as important as being a good man, and that being a good man is what made him a good coach.  Its a sad day for this world when he goes, but as a man of tremendous faith, he goes to be with his Savior and be reunited with the love of his life.  A great, great human being... you don't need to have seen him coach to see Coach at his best!  Thanks for the post... it is an excellent post.

The passing of John Wooden is a loss for our entire society.  As a young man (25), I can only wish that I had been able to see Coach Wooden at his best.  He really is one of the guys in sports history that made an impact on society as a whole.  He developed great players and taught great men.  While he wasn't perfect, no one is, John Wooden developed a legacy that will continue to live on long after we are all gone.  It is a sad day for college basketball and I'm sure that all college basketball fans are sending their thoughts and prayers to the Wooden family.

The only thing I find that says he has died is a slideshow of his history. The headline says he has died, but there is no article at all saying that. Sounds like someone may have just jumped the gun, although it is inevitable.

According to Seattle Times blog.. he isn't dead, but he's not in good shape... Washington Post' report is premature.
