An executive at a Big 12 school told the Omaha World-Herald that he expects Nebraska to become a member of the Big Ten as early as Friday, the paper reported late Tuesday night. If true, it's a development that could trigger Texas and five other Big 12 schools to move to the Pac-10, at which point the Big 12 would cease to exist.

"I think before too long -- I don't know exactly what the time frame is -- we'll be able to put this to bed," Nebraska athletic director Tom Osborne said Tuesday night on the Husker Sports Network, according to the World-Herald. "There's a lot of information we really don't have right now. Hopefully we'll get these put together in the next few days."

Nebraska chancellor Harvey Perlman is expected to discuss realignment with the Board of Regents Friday.

I agree that Texas rules the Big 12 in many ways...of course, they have kind of earned it with all of their success.  My questions is if Nebraska is upset at being in a conference ruled by Texas, so they think it will be better in a conference ruled by Michigan and Ohio State?

Hard to believe that Kansas & Kansas State could be on the outside looking in.  Just like the Big East schools when they were raided by the ACC.  I have a feeling this is only the start.

Yes. But then, its ALL about football and the benjamins it brings in. Anyone with a clue knows this. Thats why NOBODY appears to want KU let alone the Big 10.

Don't know where you have been but Wisconsin is a far bigger player on the national scene than Mighigan.  And that will surely not change this year, or many years to come.

Wow, awful high on Wisconsin huh.  I mean 'cmon, the only real national players in the Big Ten are O. State, Michigan, and sometimes Penn State.  You don't think Nebraska can hang with them.......REALLY???!  You haven't paid close attention to college football over the years.  In the modern era of college football (i.e. after 1960 or 1970), who has the most national championships.  I say modern era because you mentioned "Is it worth having your children think that Nebraska is a mediocre football team that used to be good? (i.e. Notre Dame) ".  I do believe that describes at least 3 teams in the current Big Ten (Michigan, Mich. St., and Penn. St.).  So lets count them up:  Nebraska = 5, Ohio State = 2, Penn St. = 2, Michigan = 1, Minn. = 1 (if you count 1960), Mich St. = 0, Iowa = 0, Wisconsin = 0, Indiana........oh really why go on.  I think you should be starting to get my point.  I think Nebraska would fit in quite nicely in the Big Ten.  The only thing I worry about is allignment.  I don't agree with Penn St., Ohio St, and Michigan all being in the same division........balance of power would be a bit off in my opinion, although......that would make it easier on the Huskers, so maybe that is a good thing.

Have a nice day, and see you in the Big Ten Championship

If it is just a football move than why isn't the Pac 10 joining the Big12?
The Big12 and the SEC have the MOST appearances in the BCS championship game.  And the Big12 did it with 3 different teams.
The Pac10 has 2 appearances both by USC.
The Big10 has 3 appearances all by OSU.

The Pac10 needs Texas and OU to improve their football stats.

"The real teams win championships and play well in BCS games and against equally talented teams. That is something Ohio State, Penn State, Texas and Oklahoma lack except once in a blue moon."

...

Gadawgs1, do your homework. Is winning 5 BCS games out of 8 "once n a blue moon?" ... OSU choked in ONE game -- Florida. The other two losses were to heavily-favored AND better LSU and Texas.
