Colorado will announce Friday that it is leaving the Big 12 to join the Pac-10, a Big 12 source confirmed to CBSSports.com on Thursday. The Boulder Daily-Camera is reporting that Pac-10 officials will be on the Colorado campus for a formal press conference.

This is the latest development that could lead to the demise of the Big 12 considering Nebraska is expected to also announce Friday that it's leaving the league. Multiple media outlets are reporting that Nebraska will join the Big Ten, which is expected to trigger an additional exodus of Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State to another league, most likely the Pac-10. It's worth noting that officials from Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Baylor are meeting Thursday in Austin to discuss their futures, according to OrangeBloods.com.

If Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State follow Colorado to the Pac-10, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Baylor and Iowa State would be left looking for a new league. They could all go their separate ways into existing leagues, stick together and join an existing league, or stick together and try to lure schools from other conferences -- like the Mountain West and C-USA -- to help start a new league.

MrFicll - you can't pull Arkansas away from the SEC.  I agree with the idea of keeping the Big12 - I say add Houston, TCU, and Memphis.  You don't lose anything on the basketball side, and the reason programs like Memphis and Houston don't consistently compete in football is the fact they are in a non-BCS league.  Look at the immediate turnarounds for Cincinnati and South Florida once they moved to a BCS conference.  I say screw the Pac 10, keep the Big 12, still lots of good programs there, even with the 3 departures

Don't forget to add the Nebraska Corn Shuckers in that sentence. Pouting because they don't make as much as Texas. Picking up their toys and going to play with someone else. Sorry to say that they won't dominate the Big 10 West like they would have the Big 12 North.

Colorado will do much better in the Pac-10 because it will open the door for the Buffs to recruit CA and the West Coast even more heavily.  They can't win with home-grown talent and were clearly losing ground in TX.  It is a perfect fit for them culturally and academically.

I can jsut see the pitch to Arkansas. Hey Arkansas come to the Big 12, you wil make less money, no Billion dollar SEC TV deal, and you get to play great manes like MU,KU,KSU,ISU... and we might get Hosuton or BYU... Dont worry they are just as big as Florida,Alabama, Tenn,Georgia,Auburn, etc.... I PROMISE !!!

I don't believe it's in that it's in the realm of possibility that the Big ten would ever consider Kansas.
