John Calipari announced Sunday on his Facebook page that Darnell Dodson won't play for Kentucky this season.

"Practice is underway as we prepare for our Canada trip, [and] I'm pleased with the energy everyone brought," Calipari said. "I do want to let you all know that junior Darnell Dodson will not be playing for UK this season. If Darnell, who is academically eligible, decides to return, he could practice with the team if he meets our standards."

Calipari offered no further explanation, but his announcement is hardly a surprise. Dodson's future has been in question dating back to last season because of what sources told CBSSports.com were multiple attitude and off-the-court issues. Once source described Dodson simply as a "headache."

Dodson averaged 6.0 points and 2.5 rebounds in 14.5 minutes per game last season.

The prevailing rumor I'm hearing in Louisville (w/much info. coming from Lexington), is that he flunked 2 drug tests due to marijuana!

Clearly this doesn't make or break UK but when his 3 pointers are falling he's deadly;Ive seen Dodson stick that dagger in when he hit 2 back to back when nobody was expecting it..It will be interestingto see what this new team looks like..I suspect they will be deadly on mid range shooting

Calipari: Dodson won't play for UK this season

I love how you can read day after day almost about players being arrested for robbery, rape, assault, and nothing gets said. If Calipari sits someone for discipline reasons all hell breaks loose. And as far as I remember, Cousins was never ejected from any game this year. That John Wall guy really lacks character as well.

Yes, I agree.  Cousins should have been suspended for the forearm, against Louisville.  Calipari is a scum anyhow...

Calipari: Dodson won't play for UK this season

Considering the players that John Calipari has recruited to visit his campuses as part-time student-athletes, I find it quite interesting that one of the players he recruited appears to be a head-case.  If anybody thinks that Darnell Dodson is an anomaly they would either be simply fooling themselves or drinking Calipari Kool-Aid by the gallon.  Just so nobody forgets, DeMarcus Cousins was a head-case who was always just a few seconds away from being ejected whenever he got hot under the collar.

What we really know now is that Dodson must be pretty weak and unable to help Kentucky out next year and beyond.  Otherwise, Calipari would have found a way to tolerate whatever BS he was pulling in practice, on campus, etc.  Calipar will keep players around as long as they help him win and keep his profile high.  This wasn't the first loose cannon Calipari has recuited and until the NCAA smacks him down permanently, it won't be the last.
