Heavy rain in Ames, Iowa has caused massive flooding on the Iowa State campus and put the basketball court at Hilton Coliseum under eight feet of water, according to the Des Moines Register.

“It was floating,” ISU women's coach Bill Fennelly told the newspaper. “It’s really bad what’s happening; it’s sad."

Iowa State has posted video of the flooding on its website.

"Crazy rain," Iowa State men's coach Fred Hoiberg told CBSSports.com via text message. "Never seen anything like it. Can't get across town because of flooded streets."

Well then I guess I hate your program for all the thugs that you bring in.  Iowa State is not a place where they are commonplace.  I will give you during Wayne Morgan's term they were but that is what he brought from New York.   Also they weren't all bad such as Will Blalock.  Orr, Floyd, and Eustachy were not bad.  Yes Eustachy made a bad choice but that was one and he was fired for it (Not that I think he should have).  Also if you think spiking the ball after beating one of the best teams in the nation is bad for a team that really doesn't have a whole lot  of success except in wrestling is bad than you should really learn to chill out.  It is also like saying that anyone who celebrates after scoring a touchdown is totally classless.  Now I don't know if your mad just because it was your super special court or what but they are college kids and that is what they do.  It may not be the smartest but it is what they do.

No, I just hate your program. Your players are/were a bunch of thugs and punks. Picking a fight with Wayne Simein when he was still recovering from a shoulder injury...spiking the ball on the AFH hardwood when your flash-in-the-pan team beat us in 2000...classless coaches like Johnny Orr, Tim Floyd, and Larry Eustachy in your history...I wish you bastards would fade away into the Missouri Valley Conference or something!

You see this is exactly what he means.  The court is going to take a long time to get back to normal along with the rest of the city.  This means that the economic impact is great on the places that aren't making money.  This in turn means that people won't go to the games as much which will impact the university.  That means it is a big assed circle.  It directly relates to college basketball.

"This is a college basketball web site, not CNN or Fox News. People all over America that are dumb enough to live right next to a waterway that experiences major flooding at least once every decade had better learn to deal with this bad situation. Sometimes life sucks."

I would just like you to know that it isn't a place that floods this much every decade.  I don't know about this one but the state has experienced like 5 100 year floods and 1 or 2 depending on this one 500 year floods.  That means that on average the area should flood once every 100 or 500 years.  Now if that doesn't seem odd that they flood multiple times in a decade then you are seriously mistaken.  These people are really not that rare that live in these places.  I would bet that there are many people that live near you that live in these areas if you don't yourself.  So why don't you learn that people deserve some respect no matter who or what they are.

Way to show you class!!! A community and university is in crisis and you have to make a moranic comment like that. You are are real classy individual. Get a clue!!!

The article (really just a nopte) is about the BASKETBALL ARENA at Iowa State, not the tragic impact on the flood ravaged individuals of the community. Quit being the message board police.

And it MORONIC, not moranic. Considering how MORONIC it is to get your panties in a wad about a freakin message board on COLLEGE BASKETBALL, you should know how to spell better if you are going to bash people's class.

As a FYI, I left my job and home in Delaware in 1993 to go to my parent's home in Hannibal, Missouri (where my Director of Publis Works father designed a flood wall that saved their downtown) and volunteered to fill sandbags and fioght the Mississippi River for weeks on end. I have "a clue" as to the devastating impact that communties have when facing rising flood issues.

There is a place for moral highground and there is a place for goofing around. Guess which one is the CBS SPORTS message boards?

Freakin' whiners....

Some of you commenting about this story are cold, cold people. Like I said above, The community of Ames and Iowa State University is in a bad situation right now and some of you have the nerve to make comments about how bad the men's basketball team has been or how much of a dump Hilton is.

This is a college basketball web site, not CNN or Fox News. People all over America that are dumb enough to live right next to a waterway that experiences major flooding at least once every decade had better learn to deal with this bad situation. Sometimes life sucks.
Put yourself in those people's situation.

I would never be in that situation because I would never buy a house or work for a company that was across the street from a waterway that always floods. Duh.

Shame on some of you people. SHAME!!!

Again, this is a sports website. If you want to comment on the plight of humanity, go somewhere else. If you don't like the harmless comments of sports fans, don't read them. Your finger-wagging comments are just as annoying.

It is a shame that this situation is going on.

Obviously it is, but a few people cracking a few moments of levity doesn't mean that people aren't aware of the seriousness of the situation. But thank you for the attempt to be the world's moral compass.

Kansas hasnt beat Nebraska in football in Lincoln in over 40 years. So that makes Kansas football an absolute dump.
