Davis commits to Kentucky

Anthony Davis committed to Kentucky on Friday a week after Michael O'Brien of the Chicago Sun-Times alleged that his father, Anthony Davis Sr., "negotiated a deal that promised $200,000 from someone who wanted" the heralded prospect to pledge his allegience to UK.

Anthony Davis Sr. confirmed the commitment to Scout.com.

"I hope UK is ready for the NCAA to come on in," one high-major coach texted to CBSSports.com after the story broke, point being that the NCAA will almost certainly spend time examining Davis' recruitment based on nothing more than the Sun-Times article. At this point, it doesn't matter whether the allegation has merit. This development will be scrutinized regardless, which is why many industry sources believed Davis might ultimately choose DePaul, Ohio State, Syracuse or some other college -- anybody other than Kentucky -- after last week's story went national.

But he didn't.

Consequently, John Calipari is now assured of having the nation's best recruiting class for the third straight season. Davis, ranked fifth in the Class of 2011 by Scout.com, is the third prospect ranked among the top six nationally to commit to UK. He joins Michael Gilchrist (No. 1) and Marquis Teague (No. 6).

Right or wrong.

Whether or not the allegation has any truth to it, this is what you are asking for by hiring a sleazeball for a coach.

It is what it is... Most people hate UK because of the fan base (or the small percentage that act crazy all the time). I welcome the NCAA to come and check this Davis kid out because first of all he isn't worth $200K for his service and second, UK is in a position after sending 5 guys to the NBA last year to land a lot of top talent players year in and year out right now.

I'm not gonna sit here and say that I "know" anything one way or another like some of you haters and even UK fans but here is why I don't believe for one second anything will ever come of this... when this O'Brien guy originally wrote the blog or article, he put this little nugget of "info" way down in like the 9th paragraph. Now, correct me if I'm wrong but if you're breaking a high news story like this with legit sources and facts wouldn't you start the blog or article out with this news.

Again, I'm not writing this from an aspect that "I know" anything one way or another but when you look at this it really doesn't add up to me. If UK / Cal did something wrong and paid the kid then we deserve whatever we get. When or if it is proven to be a crazy article by some kid reaching to be someone in that business and that no payment of any kind was provided for this kids recruitment then I hope everyone will apologize for believing some low rate, news paper blog.

I'm sure regardless people will always find a way to bash Cal and Uk and I'm good with it... I just wish people would pay as much attention to their programs as they do mine.

GO CATS !!

That's funny, Duke wins the National Championship and not a single person outside the state of North Carolina gives a shit. Kentucky signs another top recruit and its all anyone wants to talk about.

Whether you like it or not Kentucky is the talk of college basketball and the talk among high school recruits, ask any D-1 talent what team is on top in college bball and there all gonna say UK right now.

Whether they win a championship under Calipari or not, Kentucky is the most popular team in college basketball now so get over it.

response to wallcjk and everybody #@!&%ing else

I can't wait for the NCAA to come in to Kentucky and clean house either. Why? Because I'm sick and tired of all you $#@!holes "just knowing" Kentucky's going down for something. I wished the big guys would just drop the bomb and get it over with. Honestly, I'm sick of it. I mean, let's face it. UK isn't allowed to have success in basketball anymore and everyone knows it. That's what all you guys think! Everybody hates Kentucky for winning 7 national championships. Nobody hates UCLA for winning 11. So let's just end it alright? No more basketball at Kentucky. Let's rip the &%$#@!@ band-aid off and call it a day. Do any of you even enjoy watching basketball?

Back on top?  I hate to be the one to break the news to you, but how many NCAA championships has your school won this century?
Tell you what, dude, you can play the "how many championships has your school won" card right after you guys get one.  Until then pipe down.  You're just as delusional as most UK fans if you think anyone cares what a Xavier fan thinks.

Next to fans of the Dallas Cowgirls, UK basketball fans are the most delusional in American sports.
