Louisville coach Rick Pitino announced Friday morning on a local radio show that Roburt Sallie and Justin Coleman will not play for the Cardinals this season, according to a report in the Louisville Courier-Journal.

Sallie played the past two seasons at Memphis and was attempting to earn immediate eligibilty at Louisville by graduating from the C-USA school and enrolling in a graduate program not offered at Memphis. He fell short. Meantime, Coleman failed to qualify academically. The 6-foot-7 forward was a consensus top 50 recruit from the Class of 2010. His absence will leave Pitino without his top incoming prospect.

Louisville will open this season Nov. 16 against Butler.

Andy Katz declaring Murray State the second-best basketball team in the state of Kentucky!!

You could say Morehead and WKU could be better than Louisville next year.

Sallie, Coleman won't play for Cards

Can't believe this first commenter is saying Sallie/Coleman is no big deal because you have Kuric/Jennings.  Wow.

Sallie, Coleman won't play for Cards

I appreciate your optimism, but this is pretty crippling news.  We all figured that Coleman wasn't going to make the grades, but losing Sallie leaves us without an athletic wing player, not to mention a guy long enough to guard multiple positions.  Its going to be a tough year cards fans, brace yourself.

Karma? I'm not too sure about that but what I do know is that unless "quick" Rick pulls something out of backside, his time could be short in the Ville.

This news along with Andy Katz declaring Murray State the second-best basketball team in the state of Kentucky!! Lol! Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Kyle Kuric's Time

Kyle Kuric gave the University of Louisville basketball team four double-figure games last season.

On the flip side, there were three games when Kuric did not play and nine when he failed to score.

Louisville is going to need the double-figure Kuric more than four times this season. Not necessarily the 22-points against Syracuse Kuric, but at least a guy capable of giving U of L a dozen points, five or six rebounds or solid defense. Kuric has to become more than a zone buster, a guy who can attack off the dribble against the man-to-man.

He certainly looks like the starting small forward today with the news that neither Roburt Sallie (transfer from Memphis) nor Justin Coleman (high school kid from West Virginia) has made the grade to join the Cards.

Just as Terrence Jennings benefits from Samardo Samuels' decision leave early for the NBA and Peyton Siva advances on the graduation of Edgar Sosa, Kuric gets his opportunity here.
