Baylor lands two more elite prospects

Summer teammates Quincy Miller and Deuce Bello -- two consensus top 50 prospects from the Class of 2011 -- verbally committed to Baylor on Thursday and made it clear that Scott Drew's program won't suffer in recruiting because of recent negative headlines.

MaxPreps.com ranks Miller, a 6-foot-9 forward, No. 4 in the class.

Bello, a 6-4 combo guard, is No. 45.

Miller's commitment means Baylor will likely have a signee in the McDonald's All-American game for the second consecutive season considering Perry Jones, now a freshman on campus, made it last March. It's also worth noting that Isaiah Austin, a 7-0 center from the Class of 2012, should make it three straight McDonald's All-Americans next year. MaxPreps.com ranks him No. 2 in the class of 2012. He's already committed to Baylor.

Baylor lands two more elite prospects

Yeah, I don't really get it either. Baylor hasn't really had any outstanding years except for last season. Apparently these kids couldn't care less about the recruiting investigation. Whatever Drew is doing, he keeps snagging them. Congrats to them though because I like seeing good talent come to the Big XII.

Very interesting. This is good for the Baylor program because it used to be the laughing stock of the conference. Although after seeing the Baylor campus, playing against the Bears, and seeing the city of Waco in general, I can't imagine how ANYONE, especially a highly coveted recruit, would EVER want to go to school there. Horrible. Maybe they're super religious kids. If so, good for them. Wasn't the movie "Footloose" based on Waco? Fantastic.

It'll be interesting to watch how in depth the NCAA looks into Scott Drew's program.  Why are these elite athletes suddenly rushing to Baylor?  It sure isn't because Baylor has been a powerhouse through the ages.

Even John Cal couldn't pay enough for these guys!

Apparently UK had salary cap issues, but Baylor sure had no problems with the price Money mouth

"...Scott Drew's program won't suffer in recruiting because of recent negative headlines."(Gary)   ----Well, we don't really know that for sure, now do we?  If these kids find-out that there will be sanctions, then they can still change their minds...it happens all of the time...every year?  Hell, we may even find-out that these two athletes were getting some illegal phone calls?  The jury is still out on this whole thing, so don't let anyone off-the-hook quite yet.
