Mississippi State announced Friday that Renardo Sidney and Elgin Bailey have been suspended indefinitely for fighting each other in the stands at the Stan Sheriff Center in Hawaii. Both players were sent home. They will not play in Saturday's game at Hawaii or in Wednesday's game against St. Mary's. The wording of the release suggested Sidney and Bailey could return for the Bulldogs' SEC opener on Jan. 8 against Alabama.

"In my 13 years as a head coach, we’ve never had anything like this happen before,” said Mississippi State coach Rick Stansbury. "I am very disappointed in the actions of Elgin Bailey and Renardo Sidney and in no way does it reflect the overall picture of our program. It is not how we want our men’s basketball team to be viewed nationally, and it is certainly not the conduct we expect of teammates in our program."

Sidney became eligible last Saturday and he's already been suspended twice. The former McDonald's All-American missed all of last season and the first nine games this season because of various NCAA violations. He's averaging 15.5 points through two games as a Bulldog.

Sidney, Bailey suspended indefinitely after fight

Now Sidney's been reinstated and Bailey's transfering out.

UNREAL ! Sidney should have been given his walking papers right out of Mississippi State and Stansbury has NO "balls" in my opinion (the HC for Miss St).

Sidney, Bailey suspended indefinitely after fight

Very sad to see young men with a free ride  a free education and chance at a NBA dream throw it all in the crapper over some stupid stuff. What ever the reason this was stupid and the only course of action is to kick them off the team and out of school there is no place for a fight let alone one that goes into the stands!Stupid Stupid Stupid

They shouldn't be sent back to Starkville, they should be sent all the home (regardless of where it is). I hope those two have a Merry Christmas explaining why they can't be part of a team.

Sidney, Bailey suspended indefinitely after fight

In all my 40 years of covering college sports have I seen a beatdown by whichever Bulldog was in the front row. This was a classic confrontation between 2 of the most elite "student-athletes" that wander the Starkville campus. The possible explanations that sparked this brawl by 2 teammates in Hawaaii would be; #1 your head looks like a pineapple; #2 you cut me off in surfing off Lahaina; #3 I want to go back to Mississippi to spend Xmas with my agent;and finally, the legendary affect that the Islands have on certain individuals is unmistakeable. Can't wait for the Bulldogs visit to Lexington this season.

This guy isn't going to be around anymore after this latest incident and he's got a "trackrecord" to boot to go along with it. USC and UCLA offered this guy and withdrew their offer to him.

Sidney is a time bomb if you asked me and if he didn't unload on one of his players then he would have incited a fight in an upcoming game for sure.

He (Sidney) should be expelled both from the team and the school.

Separate Flights ???

There is no way they could be sent home on the same flight, right?

So who is paying for the separate flights from Hawaii to Mississippi?

Probably not a big deal ... it is only 5,300 miles.
