The annual John-Calipari-to-the-NBA reports are officially underway.

(What took so long?)

Peter Vecsey's column in the New York Post on Friday is headlined "Kentucky coach may be on Knicks' radar." There's nothing concrete about the headline and really no substance to the report. It's mostly just speculation rooted in the speculation of a person Vecsey describes as a team executive "who knows a thing or two about a thing or two regarding goings-on behind the screens," which is a cute way of saying "I'm gonna toss this against the wall, and, at some point, we'll see if it sticks."

So will it stick?

Honestly, who knows?

What I can tell you, though, is that this is not the first time I've heard a Calipari-Knicks rumor. One was brought to me before the Final Four, for what it's worth, but it's difficult to separate fact from fiction with this stuff, especially when the Knicks are still playing with a coach still under contract. In other words, we'll have to wait and see where this goes, then see what happens next. But similar to how I stated that Calipari would've left Kentucky last year for the opportunity to coach LeBron James, I have no doubt Calipari would leave Kentucky this year for the opportunity to coach Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony (and perhaps Chris Paul) with the Knicks.

Will Calipari get that opportunity?

Again, who knows?

But the annual speculation is something UK fans will never be able to avoid.

The annual Calipari-to-NBA rumors are here

Talk about losing perspective when you obviously have incorrect information.

What are the rumors of Bradon Knight's recruiting?

How exactly is Calipari a two time cheater?

How many teams with experience made the Final Four this season?

Again, what Calipari scandals?

The annual Calipari-to-NBA rumors are here

I am never so amazed that when fans totally lose their perspective about the big picture on things and focus only on what they want to. (And, frankly, I am not even so sure why they want to.)
To sum up the "arguments" presented here, I doubt anyone would question UK's wonderful basketball heritage and history. In that context it truly makes one wonder why they would even remotely look to tarnish that reputation with a coach such as John Calipari. A two time cheater, a coach with continued shady dealings, even leading up to this year's team and rumors of Brandon Knight's recruiting.
I mean, why? There are so many candidates that could coach this great University to the top level.
Yet, UK wants to entrust the program to this guy and his "one and dones" who may well take the school to the Elite Eight or even the Final Four, but more than likely, will never win the Big Prize due to the squad's inexperience. They will also never know when those wins will be vacated in another embarassing Calipari scandal.
The best thing that could happen to UK, is if Calipari takes his act and World Wide Wes and all of his other cronies to the NBA, and then move to hire a real coach with real character, like Brad Stevens. That would be a hire the school could be proud of and give them the best chance they could have to win the Championship.

I love the hate. I absolutely love to see other fans so mad, and upset they cannot stop talking about UK. We now not only own your team, but you as well. So please continue showing us more attention than you do your own team. That  goes to you too, GParrish. The tags are very telling.

GBB and EAD haters. Your tears are tasty.

And for the record, we dont need you as a fan SkyHawk!!!!! Cal has never been convicted and he has completely turned our program back where it belongs--- A POWERHOUSE!!!!!! So we dont need fans like you who are what they call fair-weather fans!!!!
I was under the impression that fair-weather fans only support a team when they win and nothing else. When did the definition change to supporting a team when they do the right thing? Oh, that's right, it didn't. If anything, you're the fair-weather fan.

Calipari could win 10 consecutive national championships and I wouldn't want him coaching Kentucky. He doesn't win the right way. He's a slimeball, he's had two Final Fours vacated, he constantly brings in one-and-dones, which are not good for Kentucky as a university. You can have him. Personally, I'd rather support a coach who wins and doesn't make you feel like you need a shower after supporting him. I like Kentucky, but I cannot in good conscience root for a man like John Calipari.

The Cats went to the final four in 93 not 92. If you will remember there was a pretty famous, albeit unfortunate, shot hit in the regional finals to knock the Cats out in 92.

dude your a F%^&ing sh!t stain..  Kentucky is the winningest program in college basketball..  kentucky is also the 2nd in most championships won by a D1 school.. with UCLA 1st.. so saying anything remotely negative about Kentuckys Basketball program AND coach cal  needs to be taking out back and shot and is idiot.  all teams have down years to rebuild..and we had one as well.. but now we are back and everyone hates it..  you never here about Kentucky in the 90's when they went to final four in 92,96,97,98.. and went to the champoinship game in 96 (won it) 97(lost) 98(won it).. that is greatness in my book.. and for all you Kentucky Wildcats haters heres a bit of information we kentucky fans would like you to read..

The Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team, representing the , is the winningest in the history of , both in all-time wins and all-time winning percentage.
