Butler's Mack in draft ... at least for now

Posted on: April 12, 2011 9:41 am

Butler's Shelvin Mack is declaring for the NBA Draft, but whether he'll remain in it past next month's deadline to withdraw remains unclear, a source confirmed to CBSSports.com on Tuesday.

Mack has no immediate plans to hire an agent.

The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 16.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists this season while leading Butler to its second consecutive NCAA tournament title game. The Kentucky native is projected as a borderline first-round pick, though he could be aided by underclassmen like North Carolina's John Henson, Baylor's Perry Jones and Ohio State's Jared Sullinger already announcing that they will return to school.

The deadline to withdraw from the NBA Draft is May 8.

Butler's Mack in draft ... at least for now

Good call, orange.  But didn't their run also end last year when Hayward went pro?  Oh, yeah, these things are kind of hard to predict, aren't they?

Butler's Mack in draft ... at least for now

It doesn't really matter, Butler's dream run these last couple years has hit a wall. They benefited from mistakes by Pit and Florida, they have an amazing defense but absolutley no offense no matter who comes back

I sure hope he changes his mind and comes back to Butler for his senior year. Without him and Howard graduating, Butler will have a tough season ahead of them.
