The Poll Attacks
Kentucky is getting votes.
BYU broke into the Top 25 after a loss.
Here are the Poll Attacks, as easy as ever.
AP poll: Oh, Lord.
Here we go.
Some writer -- his name is Eric Boatright of the News Star in Louisiana, you should know -- has decided to start listing Kentucky on his Top 25 ballot despite UK winning only five more times this season than it has lost. The Wildcats are 15-10 overall and just 3-8 against the Top 100 and 9-9 against the Top 200. But Boatright apparently didn't consider any of that, instead choosing to be impressed by a recent road win over LSU (which is terrible) that was backed by a home win over Georgia (which is terrible) and a home win over Arkansas (which is terrible on the road, evidence being how the Hogs' best road win is at Auburn).
That's what prompted Boatright to vote Kentucky 23rd -- that home win over a Georgia team that is 1-8 in true road games and that home win over an Arkansas team that is 2-5 in true road games. As for me, I still can't figure out how a team that isn't even considered a legitimate bubble team for the NCAA Tournament can be ranked 23rd on somebody's ballot. But maybe I'm just thinking too much.
Coaches poll: BYU dropped out of the rankings after a Dec. 29 loss at Boise State and didn't resurface in the subsequent seven weeks. Three straight wins didn't get the Cougars in on Jan. 28. Five straight wins didn't get them in on Feb. 4. Six straight wins didn't get them in on Feb. 11. Eight straight wins didn't get them in on Feb. 18, and I was starting to get emails from BYU fans who were wondering what they had to do to break back into the Top 25.
Answer: Lose to San Diego State, of course.
BYU dropped a 69-65 decision at SDSU late Saturday night, and it was so late that most of the coaches who vote in the Coaches poll must've already been asleep. How else do you explain a team going from unranked to ranked after losing to an unranked opponent?

The Poll AttacksIn regards to all of these comments in general , it seems as though everyone has forgotten that our team has been banged and bruised from the beginning. It's obvious Parish does not like Kentucky basketball. Howeve All I'm sayin, maybe a little more objective next time Parrish. |

The Poll AttacksOf course he fails to mention the victories over Tenn and Vandy, but I'm sure it just slipped his mind.
If UK were to beat Tenn again, (not likely, but one can hope) how would he put a negative spin on this, I wonder? I'm not saying UK is a great team, but they are an improving team, and there is no denying this. Any team that goes 8-1 in their last 9 games is doing something right. |

The Poll AttacksAgain, I do not think UK is a top 25 team. The committee will put more weight on the last 12 games instead of November and December. Also, UK played a tough non-conference schedule. There are teams who went undefeated in non-conference play who would have had no chance of doing so playing Kentucky's schedule. Cat fans are not blind. We do see that we are not great, rather that we might be good enough. Only these next four games and the SEC tournament will tell. The schedule is somewhat favorable considering Kentucky plays @ USC, @ Tennessee (that could be ugly), Ole Miss, and a young Florida team at home on senior day (not in that order). My point was just that Parrish could have picked anybody to bash in the others receiving votes section of the polls and its interesting that he picked UK to go off on. |

The Poll AttacksYou people kidding me?! Parrish is right on here. Not only doesn't Kentucky deserve to crack anyone's top 25, unless they pretty much win out, I don't see why they should make the field of 65.... a .500 record against the top 100 just doesn't impress me like it impresses cat fans apparently

The Poll AttacksParrish, also appears one of the coaches in the coaches pool gave Kentucky some credit for their recent success.

The Poll Attacks I wonder if you would be this harsh if this team weren't named Kentucky....
Of course he wouldn't. It makes him feel big and brave to slam a highly regarded program whenever they show signs of resurgence. When (if) they get to 20 wins, I doubt he'll be commenting, slam or otherwise.

They wouldn't be getting votes if they weren't named Kentucky. Beating Arkansas gave them their third top 100 win of the season to go with those astoundingly bad losses early on. The only way a 15-10 team should ever get any votes is if their schedule consists of 25 top 50 games. That's about it, really. |

The Poll AttacksParrish, would you even give Kentucky credit when they deserve it? It seems like any win they get you find someway to make it a negative. UK just plays whos next on their schedule. They are winning the games they are supposed to, and playing pretty good basketball right now (won 8 out of the last 9). I agree they are not a top 25 team, but to call them out just because they got a few votes in the poll is uncalled for and ridiculous. I wonder if you would be this harsh if this team weren't named Kentucky....
