RALEIGH, N.C. -- Congratulations, Kentucky Wildcats.

You will be included in the next Projecting the Field when I update late Sunday/early Monday, and let me go ahead and apologize for being among the last to come around and reward you for your turnaround. I doubted you for a while because I couldn't get past how terrible you were in November, December and early January. Then you got better. But I still doubted you because your best player (Patrick Patterson) went down with a season-ending injury. That was reasonable of me, I think. But even if you disagree it doesn't matter anymore, because the way you've responded minus Patterson has been convincing enough to ensure we are now in total agreement, that playing Tennessee tight before winning at South Carolina and beating Florida to improve to 18-11 overall and -- this is the important part -- 12-4 in the SEC is sufficient for inclusion to the NCAA tournament.

Honestly, I'm not sure how you got this thing turned around.

But make no mistake, you got this thing turned around.

So congratulations, Kentucky Wildcats.

Ashley Judd should be proud.

I will accept your apology, I thought most of your comments were funny and just trying to get a rise out of some UK fans.  It takes a man to admit when he is wrong thats why I don't expect to see an apology from mikesyr17 since he is nothing more than a little boy who like to whine and cry when things don't go his way.  Good luck to your Aggies in the tournament.

Just to make sure I understand what is going on here; a five point victory at home is a "dismantling", and losing a close game to a good team and winning two against teams that aren't going to (or at least shouldn't) make the NCAA tournament are enough to get you in?  It must be nice to be able to rely on tradition.  If the SEC gets five teams in the NCAA tourney, I have a suggestion for the next round of congressional hearings.

Would I have Syracuse in over Kentucky? No.

Would I have Syracuse in? Yes.

When I update the field tonight, I believe I will have Syracuse in ... but just barely.  The Orange still have work to do to feel comfortable.

True Blue,

The only teams from the SEC who are deserving of at large bids, at this time, are: Tenn, Vandy, and Miss St.  The SEC is definitely not the conference it has been, and we are talking about the present tense and not the past.  If those three teams you mentioned can get to the semis or the finals of SEC tournament, then the selection committee needs to take a serious look at their selection as #11 or #12 seeds and no higher.  The conference tournaments are where these "bubble teams" need to shine, or be relegated to the "NIT" pickers.

Doubting Kentucky can make a man look stupid

I said earlier in a post that UCLA is the NCAA's version of the Patriots, with the strange calls as of late.  Now I think that Kentucky is to NCAA as the Giants were to the NFL.  Both teams looked really, really bad early in the season and then came on very, very strong.

Good job Kentucky, way to make me look stupid also!!

dek,

Don't take it outside of the conference.  If UK is not in, then ARK, UF, or Ole Miss are not in either.

This means only 3 from the SEC, that is not going to happen.

They don't win pretty but they keep winning and show they can compete with the best in the country or get killed by them.

That's the bottom line.

The Cats are in now teams like Syracuse and others are up against ARK, Ole Miss, and UF for a possible fifth at large from the SEC or someone else.

Gary wouldn't you agree?

Congratulations Kentucky WIldcats on turning your season around and playing with so much heart and passion at the end of the season when many people counted you out and gone.  Good luck the rest of the way.
