Lets play two!

The SEC Tournament is taking the form of an AAU Tournament.

Two games in one day?

The only thing that'll make this better is if the teams with the second game -- Tennessee and Arkansas -- have to sit in the bleachers to watch Kentucky-Georgia while Sonny Vaccaro comes out to give a speech at halftime. Oh yeah, and I'm gonna need a bunch of chairs all around the court, you know, for other coaches to sit in. And I need officials in shorts. And can't they just roll in two more goals at Georgia Tech, turn the court sideways and play two games at the same time so everybody can watch four rosters full of players at once?

I mean, if the SEC is going AAU it needs to go all out.

I want somebody's uncle who happens to be on a Nike payroll to coach every team.

And I want to see runners for agents on the freakin' bench, drawing up plays and handing out cash.

And ... (I could go on for 500 more words but I think I'll just stop right here)

Lets play two!

Does anyone know why the SEC Conference Championship was changed to 3:30?

You might want to take a look at the past champions and what % of invities get to the sweet 16 by conference and that is a better indicator than the heavily biased East Coast writers opinions. The SEC is very competitve as a conference and it is the bottom teams that make it that way. As for the best conf. I do not know, however the conf.Ncaa Tourney record would say that it does belong in the conversation.

Does it really matter that they had to play two

games in one day? Technically if the game had gone on as scheduled UGA would have had to turn around and play again about 14 hours later. So they only get 6 hours rest instead of 14. The short turn around could have forced them to focus more.

Also don't the players play pick up games everyday ALL DAY? There shouldn't be an issue with stamina.

Lets play two!

Big East fans need to get over yourselves. I'm getting tired of Big East fans throwing out the fact that there will be 7 teams in the NCAA Tournament as the reason the Big East is the best conference. When it's a 16 team conference, of course they are going to get a larger number of teams in. 7 is 44% of the conference. The Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, SEC traditionally get 5 or 6 teams in the tournament (42%-55%).... The major conferences are going to get 40%-50% of their teams in every year on average. That's just the way it is.

And the claim that I have seen several times that the Big East is the best conference from top to bottom is not really true. As of Friday, the number of teams with 19 wins vs. 19 losses in the major conferences:

ACC and SEC - 6 teams with 19 wins or more; 0 teams with 19 losses or more. Big 12 - 7 teams with 19 wins; 1 team with 19 losses. PAC 10 - 5 teams with 19 wins; 1 team with 19 losses. Big East - 9 teams (56%) with 19 wins; 4 teams (25%) with 19 losses. Big Ten - 6 teams (55%) with 19 wins; 3 teams (27%) with 19 losses. This is certainly not very scientific and doesn't take into account schedule strength or anything, but I think it clearly negates claims by Big East and Big Ten fans about their conference this year as the best (and I'm a Big Ten fan that at least abjectively understands that the Big Ten is about as bad as they have been in the last 20 years). But based on percentages it looks like the Big East is about the same as the Big Ten from top to bottom..............

The biggest problem with the Big East is the conference schedule is so unbalanced (who you play twice, where you play the teams that you only play once), you'll never get a fair read on the true quality of one one teams record compared to another without some subjectivity. If it's only based on pure numbers (the way Big East fans play it), maybe the Big Ten should make a play to lure Marquette, Notre Dame, Louisville, Pitt, and West Virginia into the Big Ten in order to claim to be the best because they'll put 8 or 9 teams in the tournament consistently.............. <

Hey King - how many national titles has Kentucky earned? Which team is the defending repeat national champion? Florida? Has LSU ever had a few good teams and marquee players (Shaq & Maravich, to name a couple of famous ones)?

Guess the SEC doesn't know how to play basketball, huh.....

I think the SEC will surprise this year. Hope I'm not wrong.... ;)

I really don't see UK being out...

..not even out of bias.

This is a business. Do you know how much revenue fans of the University of Kentucky contribute to the cities the tournament games are held in? To be honest, the University of Kentucky could split the season and probably still be included in the tournament.

I will say that it's very interesting how none of the articles listed on this website mention the absolutely horrific no-call foul at the end of overtime. It is important that issues like this are made note of, as it brings the questionable officiating to the forefront. I'll love to hear Gerald Boudreaux's explanation regarding why the foul was not called.

"but dont claim that they are the best conference when they have 1 sweet 16 team - Tennessee. The best basketball conference is the BIG East."

with a comment like that you better be praying that no other team makes the sweet 16 from SEC.

Get over yourself with the Big East bs. there are almost 20 teams in that league- it's absurd how big it is.

SEC = Best conference in Basketball????? Haha yeh right. Its a terrible conference for bball. It is the king in football, but dont claim that they are the best conference when they have 1 sweet 16 team - Tennessee. The best basketball conference is the BIG East.

Georgetown, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Connecticut Marquette, Notre Dame, WVU all possible sweet 16 teams.

It continues to amaze me every day that people just don't have a sense of humor.

Good one Gary, but maybe you need to turn down the sarcasm in order for slower readers to catch up.
