Some quick thoughts now that the bracket is out

Some initial (and quick) thoughts ...

  • I have no real problem with the four No. 1 seeds. It's not the way I would've done it, but it's fine.
  • Tennessee shouldn't be the fourth No. 2 seed. It still has the No. 1 RPI and No. 1 strength of schedule.
  • I hate that Illinois State did not make the field. Guess losing by 30 in your league title game is a killer.
  • Michael Beasley vs. O.J. Mayo in the first round? Excellent!
  • Eight teams from the Big East is exactly right.
  • Memphis might have to play Texas in Houston in the South Regional final. That sucks for Memphis.
  • Wisconsin should be a No. 1 or No. 2 seed. A No. 3 seed is wrong for a Big Ten regular-season and tournament champion.
  • It's a good thing for Kentucky that Dwyane Wade is out of college. You remember the last time the Wildcats got Marquette, right?
  • I don't like South Alabama vs. Butler in the first round. It seems like a clever way to eliminate a non-BCS team that could make a run.
  • Ditto for Gonzaga vs. Davidson in the first round.

Some quick thoughts now that the bracket is out

Here is another problem: UNC could play Indiana in the second round. Well we know 10-12 people who don't want UNC to win it all. I don't think any team that has been in the top ten should ever be an 8 seed. I just look at the other 8/9 seeds and I know for sure that Indiana is the best of them all. I'd rather be Kansas in the second round than UNC.

Some quick thoughts now that the bracket is out

I think the Pac-10 is overrated as an entire conference.  Oregon, ASU, & Arizona did not show me much during the non-conference season.  They are getting built up based on their conference season.  Oregon has two wins, Stanford & K-State.  Stanford is a great win, but K-State has had their moments but they are an 11 seed.

After saying that I think Oregon will be Miss. St.  You saw my comments on the SEC.

Some quick thoughts now that the bracket is out

So here is THE list of all the lower seeds that will win in round one....

St. Joes...Ou can't handle any big man let alone Calathes.

South Alabama... Butler has a great record but no great wins and are on the wrong end of a 7 vs. 10....there's one every year!

Siena... I said Siena. They beat the 3 seed in the south, and play the style of ball that lends to being a giant killer...a backcourt that can fill it up.

Davidson...alot of people have picked this one.

Oregon... like a boxer, when you keep going up against heavyweights, you learn a thing or two and they will show that against MSU.

Western Kentucky...thats right two sunbelt teams move on. Drake had a great year, but a mid-major will be a victim of the 5 vs. 12 plague.

Not alot of big upsets, but these may help you win your office pool. Madness I say MADNESS.

Some quick thoughts now that the bracket is out

Kentucky has been up and down, but they defininately can keep it very close vs. Marquette. Like alot of teams this year they have played to the level of their competion, so even if they are more talented, they don't always show it and seem to lack a killer instinct. Wouldn't predict victory, but wouldn't be shocked if the wildcats moved on. Besides, Dwayne Wade isn't there to kill you this time!!!

Some quick thoughts now that the bracket is out

As a Kentucky Wildcat fan I would like to think that they have a good chance to beat Marquette. In reality I don't see them winning this game,or even being able to keep it close.

Some quick thoughts now that the bracket is out

Wow....I like the boldness of the prediction, but even in a "home court" scenario, South Alabama will not beat Butler.  I do agree that Davidson can beat Gonzaga.  I saw the Zags early in the year in Boston against UCONN and they played a great game, but they are very inconsistent.  If they don't bring their A Game, Davidson has the great shot and knocking them off.  To bad they draw G-Town after that.

Everything was great until the last couple points

South Alabama AND Davidson are going to the sweet 16.

Come on Gary those two are playing home games.

Some quick thoughts now that the bracket is out

UCLA got the easiest route to the Final Four by far and in my opinion Memphis got the toughest bracket. Mephis has to deal with Miss. St, Pitt, Michigan St., and possibly Texas in the Elite 8. They only suffered one loss and it was a game they loss due to free-throws. No excuses for them but why did UCLA get such a cake bracket. Duke is running out of gas and Xavier suffered a couple of injuries. Kansas has to deal with the toughest defensive teams in the tourney. Wisconsin, Georgetown, and USC are in the top 5 in the country. Indiana won't even beat Arkansas in the first round NC should ease to the elite 8 eventually losing to an versatile Volunteer team.
