Mind if I update my All-America teams?

The Associated Press All-America teams were released Monday.

They are mostly reasonable.

No real complaints here.

As for me, I did my All-America teams two weeks ago. So I'm stuck with them. But every year the NCAA tournament changes my beliefs, makes me like certain players more than I liked them before the postseason. Last year it was Mike Conley. This year it's Stephen Curry and Derrick Rose. So if I could do the teams again right now they might look more like this ...

(Must read explanation of my way of thinking: Remember, I do not simply select the best five players and make them first-teamers while the next five players become second-teamers with no regard to the position those players play. Rather, I try to make the teams in the traditional sense, meaning every team I assemble must have somebody who can dribble the ball, rebound the ball, shoot the ball, pass the ball, etc. Otherwise, it's a flawed team, and I'm not interested in having flawed teams. But I do hate how this logic forces Kevin Love  to the second team. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. But I can't have three bigs on the first team, and I'm taking Tyler Hansbrough and Michael Beasley on the first team. And if you think that's stupid, well, you might be right. Like I said, I hate it. But what can you do?)

Updated First Team

G: Derrick Rose (Memphis)
G: Stephen Curry (Davidson)
G: Chris Douglas-Roberts (Memphis)
F: Michael Beasley (Kansas State)
F: Tyler Hansbrough (North Carolina)

It's so funny, yet relaxing with one game remaining that not one Selfless player on the best team in the nation made your list. No Danny Manning, but seven NBAers. Where you gonna find that anymore?

I'm familiar with your biases...

I mean, I know you'd rather gush effusively about a one-and-done player like Mayo or Gordon than solemnly pat a ho-hum player like Jonathan Wallace on the back, and I furthermore recognize that you pay perhaps the least attention of any major national sportswriter to the Big East (you're more of an ACC, Big XII, SEC guy who dabbles in the PAC-10 and groans when he pulls a Big Ten assignment), but still...

Padgett and Joe Alexander don't even get a shout out on here after their performances in the Tournament?

Wow, Luke Harangody continues to make this list over David Padgett?

Good choices for all America teams.  But I am curious, when was the last time a team was a one seed, made the final four, and did not have one player on the all America list?

I am glad to see Stephen Curry on your first team. He has earned it. Davidson like Memphis has not gotten the recognition they deserve. And yes Gary, I read the "Mouth of the South" article on Cal. It is true though, everybody complains about Memphis being there and I believe CBS polls clearly indicated that most felt they would be the first # 1seed out. CBS also made comments concerning Davidson's false hopes. Oh wait, I'd better quit, I'm starting to sound like John Calipari.

I think you have the Indiana players a little high. If they're that good why didn't their team finish higher?Ditto!

actually you can have three bigs on your team...if you go PG, SG, SF, PF, C...

even though Kevin Love isnt exactly a small forward it could still count :)

But I do think that Beasley could have an better argument over Love so I can see your logic very clearly

Jamar Butler deserves some consideration. he was basically all that was left off of last years team. switched from the point as a soph, to 2 guard as a jr( for Conley) back to point this year. Wasnt even honorable mention.. Somethings wrong...Thanks for your work.....

Just an observation, the 10th-14th players on this list are Pac-10.  Looking at that team, I'm not so sure I wouldn't put a Kevin Love, Brook Lopez, O.J. Mayo, Jerryd Bayless, Darren Collison starting 5 up against any other conferences starting 5 in the country.  Big 12 would have a pretty good starting 5 as well.
