SAN ANTONIO -- LSU will hire Trent Johnson to replace John Brady.

A press conference should come Thursday.

So now Stanford is open.

And I'm wondering whether Mike Montgomery is having second thoughts about taking the Cal job last week.

When a school like Stanford is looking for a coach, they also have to consider a guy who can adhere to their strict academic standards as well.  On that note, watch for Keno Davis of Drake to get a call also.  I know that currently he is a one-hit wonder but he can coach and he has some of the toughest academic standards in America to work with at Drake.  I would like to see the coach from BYU get looked at as well.  One thing I do know is that Stanford will not go big name, Trent was not a big name when he was hired.

Trent Johnson is a great pick, Stanford now needs to go after Dave Rose BYU's Head Coach.

Stanford is a pretty big job....

Wonder who ends up there?  Is Stanford willing to pay big bucks, or will they go after a great second tier program leader.....another Nevada coach, possibly in Fox?  Few? Bob McKillop would be a great fit?

Interesting hire. Just wondering if there are any sets of 7-foot twins in Louisiana high school basketball right now? Whatever Johnson signed for, half should go to the Lopez twins. This one won't work at all.

ROFL!

Hey, Gary, you just never know . . ..  maybe Mike bolts from Cal and heads across the bay back to Palo Alto.  Remeber the Rick Majerus debaucle at USC when he took the job and then bolted a few days later.

Ah, the Coaching Carousel.  It keeps us intrigued for a while until football season.  Lessens the gap between seasons.  While I enjoy baseball, I still feel a void between college hoops and college football.
