Dorsey: Anderson and Dozier returning to Memphis

Posted on: May 23, 2008 10:10 am

Antonio Anderson and Robert Dozier are keeping quiet about their future plans.

But, as always, Joey Dorsey is talking.

The former Memphis Tiger told on Friday morning that though Anderson and Dozier are still technically in the NBA Draft, they are planning to withdraw and return to college for their senior years.

"They will be coming back to school," Dorsey said. "Take it from me. They're coming back."

Assuming Dorsey is correct -- and he promised he is -- John Calipari is assured of another preseason Top 15 team even with the losses of Dorsey, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Derrick Rose. A probable Memphis starting lineup will be Willie Kemp, Tyreke Evans, Anderson, Dozier and Shawn Taggart.

RckChlk - You must be a fan of the school who has zero academic standards, who'll accept any cheater for the sake of having someone who will "hit free throws".

They still have Benedict Pitino at the healm.  "Peak at the right time"???  Maybe they've peaked a little early the past couple of years, 'cause they have nothing to show for it.

Sensei, I've got a way that KU outplayed Memphis all game long....Try 14-15 at the free throw line, try hitting big shots and capitlizing in the clutch.  KU still has the title and its not going anywhere til next year (and even then I hope that the newcomers, Cole, and Sherron can get us back to the big game)

That is fine sense, I will let you drown in your own self pity and denial.  I am sure you cannot wait for next year, anything to get that taste out of your mouth.  Continue to try and wrap your mind around the fact that Memphis lost, and hopefully you can move on in life.  KU-5 national titles.  Memphis-0.  Dang.

Rock, I think I am done with you since you will not bring any logic to the table. You claim that KU outplayed Memphis the entire game? Then what do you call the 9 point lead with 2 minutes to go? and yes, it was a Memphis lead!! KU was up by 5 or so at the half, and KU outplayed Memphis so bad that Memphis went to a 9 point lead with 2 minutes to go - nice logic. Im done with you until you can say something that makes sense.

senselikeough-Obviously the should not have won the game, because they didnt.  All the excuses in the world wont bring the banner to Memphis. Mempphis did get outplayed for the duration of the game.   If titles were won on what ifs, KU would have a handful in the last decade.  What is Jerod Haase plays against Arizona in '97 (he shuts down Dickerson and KU marches on), what is KU doesnt play the work half of basketball against Maryland in 02, what if KU makes free throws (ala Memphis) against 'Cuse in 03?  BIG DEAL, we got beat.  Now we got another won.  Hopefully Memphis gets that chance again.

soulshack-Chill out and take an English class.  Those posts were tough to get through.  The Tennessee woman post was an reference, so settle down.  Aurthor was not ineligible you idiot.  NCAA cleared him and he has done well in college while at KU (bring on your childish grade changing jokes).  Memphis blew it, get over it and good luck another year.  And I very much doubt that the NCAA will wipe off the win, FYI.

You know, I really have a difficult time explaining myself to people that cannot understand more than basic English. I didnt say Kansas was lucky, I said it would be more accurate to say they were lucky than to say Memphis was outplayed. Neither one is accurate. The fact is that Memphis choked. If Memphis does not throw the ball away on the inbound, or if they make just one more free throw at the end, then we are talking about the Tigers.

And as far as Memphis playing in a weaker conference, how does that really matter if they made it as far as Kansas did? And really should have won the game?

LOL!!! Yeah RIGHT!!!

C'mon now, Loserville????? Every one knows that they will  win enough games to get a decent seeding and bully the first two teams that made it into the big dance by winning on a last second shot in their junior varsity conference tournament. Then history will repeat itself and they will get their butts handed to them  by the first team that they play with a seeding equal to or slightly higher than theirs.

Even Pitino can't save your zombie program....

LOSERville has super recruits???, I think you'd better check Memphis' recruiting resume'. Possibly the best in the nation!! along with a bench that includes players that would start for any major college team and we didn't even need them last year..... but were going to fade in the sweet 16!!!!????......LOL

Loserville needs to concentrate on making it past their sweet sixteen party before they start talking smack about a consistent elite 8 team and last year's national runner ups in the title game!!

Memphis better watch it

Memphis is only a big paycheck or great job away from having Calipari leave and you are then relegated to the cellars of what it the Con. USA. Everyone bashing on the Jayhawk title run is stupid. We are sorry that you guys missed free throws and we took advantage of it. It happened to us in 2003 when we missed tons of free throws and lost the title game to Melo. You guys will get yours if you keep Cal so chill out. Also if you guys want to play Louisville so much you maybe you guys need to beat Tennessee first. You can't complain about not playing the Power of your state when you can't even beat little Bruce Pearl across the way. Come one guys that non conf was tough but dont start making it too tough. The NCAA wont let it happen because if Pitino and Calipari get on the same court the smell of garlic would choke the players.
