Dorsey: Anderson and Dozier returning to Memphis

Posted on: May 23, 2008 10:10 am

Antonio Anderson and Robert Dozier are keeping quiet about their future plans.

But, as always, Joey Dorsey is talking.

The former Memphis Tiger told CBSSports.com on Friday morning that though Anderson and Dozier are still technically in the NBA Draft, they are planning to withdraw and return to college for their senior years.

"They will be coming back to school," Dorsey said. "Take it from me. They're coming back."

Assuming Dorsey is correct -- and he promised he is -- John Calipari is assured of another preseason Top 15 team even with the losses of Dorsey, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Derrick Rose. A probable Memphis starting lineup will be Willie Kemp, Tyreke Evans, Anderson, Dozier and Shawn Taggart.

Dorsey: Anderson and Dozier returning to Memphis

for those of you kansas fans who are replyin to the louisville thread....

Just imagine your biggest rival, whom you have played for years, just stops playin' you.  You'd be pissed right?  I mean rivals are a love/hate relationship.  You hate 'em; but you love playin' 'em.  And yes it was because the tigers were better than louisville for the past 6 years.  Pitino in his arrogance feels that the Big East is simply enough.  Well, a tough non-conf. schedule is important to a team as well.  If the conf. schedule is enough then why is it other premier programs in other conferences ala UT, KU and UNC play tough non-conf schedules?  Pitino is a coward.  We'll play em home and home and they can be home first.  We will still win.  Oh yeah he won a title.  If Cal was at a traditional power school he would have at least 2 by now.  The fact that he has made teams from smaller conferences as dominant as they are nationally prooves he is by far a better coach than Pitino.

THE PUBLIC DO KNOW THE REASONS WHY PITINO WONT PLAY . REASON NUMBER 1 : WHEN THE CARDS LEFT TO GO TO THE BIG EAST ,CALIPARI  ASSUMED THE SERIES WOULD  STILL BE PLAY [LIKE CINCY ]  PITINO TOOK  THAT AS AN INSULT .REASON NUMBER :2 BOTH PROGRAMS RECRUIT THE SAME PLAYERS  ,DAJAUN WAGNER , DERRICK CARECTOR  AND TYREKE EVANS ARE A FEW THAT GOT REAL UGLY . REASON NUMBER 3: PLAYING IN THE BIG EAST THE CARDS CANT AFFORD TO LOSE A NON CONFRENCE GAME  TO MEMPHIS OR ANY POWER PROGRAM .THE BIG EAST IS GOOD FOR AT LEAST 3 LOSES  ADD A LOSE TO MEMPHIS  EQUAL A 4 SEED OR WORST COME TOURNY TIME .

I sincerely doubt that Rick Pitino (who has a championship ring) is scared of John Calipari.  That is just ridiculous.  If it benefited the programs, it would be done.  There is always reasons we the general public do not know as to why a series isnt being played.  Many in Kansas wonder why KU doesnt play WSU.

Thanks for the laugh! Pitino scared of Calipari, that's hilarious. You make it sound like they're a couple of palooka's. The fact is that L'ville doesn't need a game with Memphis, on the other hand, Memphis does NEED quality games. I personally think that great teams playing each other helps both teams, even more so if they are in the same geographic area. I think it would be good for both basketball programs if L'ville and Memphis played.

Don't be bitter cause your two best players can't hit the freebies.  Arthur was declared eligible by the NCAA before he ever stepped on a college basketball court.  KU won't lose their title or be punished in any way.  Memphis is just gonna have to learn to be a little more clutch.....or as I now refer to it as.....Chalmers.

"Tough conference last year?  Answer- Nope"

Memphis fans should not cast the "tough conference" stone at anyone.  The Big East was much tougher night in and night out then the old Conf. USA.  I think the Tennessee women could have won that conference.

LOUISVILLE? ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDIN ME?

If Louisville is so good how come they won't play us anymore?  Do they play a tough non-conference schedule?  Answer- Nope.  Tough conference last year?  Answer- Nope.  So if they were so good last year how come they didn't make it any farther?  Answer- they weren't that good.  Both sides want to play each other, at least I know Memphis fans still want to watch The Tigers make a feast out of the Cardinals.  How bout resumin' the series?  Oh yeah, Pitino is scared of Calipari.

Louisville has nucleus back? Yes I agree they will definately be a team to beat, but did you see how they played without Padgett last year? He held the team together, and without him they wouldn't have been anything near what they were last year. They get many talented players back, including Clark, who they would have been in real trouble without. The Big East is loaded this year, Villanova returns everyone, Pitt returns their key players, Notre Dame returns everyone but Kurz which doesn't hurt much, UConn and Georgetown are UConn and Georgetown, and Marquette should be right in the mix again. Feel like I'm forgetting a team. I think they'll struggle to win the Big East, let along the NCAA Tourney. Think top 4 will be between UConn, ND, Pitt, and Louisville, all who should also make noise in the NCAA tournament.
