Dorsey: Anderson and Dozier returning to Memphis

Posted on: May 23, 2008 10:10 am

Antonio Anderson and Robert Dozier are keeping quiet about their future plans.

But, as always, Joey Dorsey is talking.

The former Memphis Tiger told CBSSports.com on Friday morning that though Anderson and Dozier are still technically in the NBA Draft, they are planning to withdraw and return to college for their senior years.

"They will be coming back to school," Dorsey said. "Take it from me. They're coming back."

Assuming Dorsey is correct -- and he promised he is -- John Calipari is assured of another preseason Top 15 team even with the losses of Dorsey, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Derrick Rose. A probable Memphis starting lineup will be Willie Kemp, Tyreke Evans, Anderson, Dozier and Shawn Taggart.

Boneheaded plays? I don't know about that. Last I checked, missing freethrows isn't a boneheaded play, rather poor execution.

I always say to be careful when gloating about someone else's dirty laundry. The wind can change and you find the dirty laundry is
on your face. Marcus Camby ring a bell with your current coach? It would have been difficult if not impossible for KU to have known about Arthur's grade and if it was changed.

Lou-You are so right to compare them to the UCLA fan base.  They are one of the worst.  There is a big difference between proud of your team and a true showing of team spirit and the down right annoying way UCLA fans show themselves.  They act like the invented the game and are the be-all-end-all of college basketball.

sense-You are now the ignorant one for calling KU the luckiest team all year.  They outplayed nearly every opponent and did so in a much more difficult conference.  Memphis did play a tough non-conf schedule, but had to to make up for their JV conference.  KU was the better team that night.  Say what you want about what Memphis did wrong down the stretch, but none of that matters if KU doesnt take advantage of the opportunity.

hattie , you sound a little mad I would be too  ,if my school  left lonely CON .USA  to go to that meat grinder BIG EAST.For three years now we all have being hearing how good the cards are gonna be .This may be your best team since the Pinto era so tell me this, why did he try to bolt to the NBA ? Here are the facts my friend : the cards will be the fourth best team behind U CONN ,G -TOWN  AND PITT.The tigers will be loaded again, they will win CON USA  again  ,they also will play TENN ,GTOWN ,ZONA ,GONZAGA ,TEXAS AND THE ORANGE and there 's talk a KANSAS rematch at the garden in  non -confrence play . T he cards decline to play us last year ,this year ,and next year .( dont know why they have a bonafied championship team ) Watch what i tell you the TIGERS  number 1 or 2 seed  CARDS 4 or 5  seed  write it down .

Kingforaday: You're not from the Memphis area. Gary and I are. Gary was a beat writer for the tigers and has a local radio show in Memphis so please don't attempt to scold me for something you know nothing about. Gary was attempting humor and it failed. He wants to be a national sportswriter but continually falls back on his Memphis ties when he has nothing better to write about. And those articles are usually negative. You outside our community may not see it but we do and from time to time we have to call Gary out on his poor judgement.

How in the name of god can that be construed as bashing? Give it a rest  - keep up the good work GP

PS - All you Kansas fans acting like you won the game by 30.  Reality check: Memphis lost, you didn't win.  You have the title, so hats off - but try winning gracefully......its not your first title, but you would never know it by the way you clowns run your mouths.  Although I am sure the biggest loud mouths are the losers who didn't go to any college, much less KU - like usual.

PPS - Joey Dorsey for Mayor - "Whoop That Trick in '08"

KU was by far the best team all of last year???????

You have got to be kiddding, or have nothing else to write about. It took several bone-headed plays by Memphis, and a prayer of a shot by KU for the Jayhawks to get into OT. It would be more accurate to say that the Jayhawks were by far the most lucky team all year. Wow, what nerve !!

Nice post.  I am a Jayhawk and was likewise blown away while at the Final 4 at the class of the Memphis fan above and beyond the (in particular) UCLA fans.  Sorry you had one bad apple try to ruin the bunch.  Good luck to your Tigers next year.  Calipari is a stud.  Keep him and you'll be back in the Finals again.

hopefully the new madrid fault wont have shook before next years tourney or Evan's or any other Memphis player wont be able to shoot a free throw at all there. Rock Chalk, stop being so bitter tiger fans, KU was by far the best team all of last year. Sorry Parrish and ESPN dont talk much about it until we win. Just garbage..... Anyways the jackass that talked about Arthur for no reason brought this upon yourself Memphis fans, Us KU fans will always be gracious but yes we will be cocky as hell until the first game next year and rightfully so.
