Dorsey: Anderson and Dozier returning to Memphis

Posted on: May 23, 2008 10:10 am

Antonio Anderson and Robert Dozier are keeping quiet about their future plans.

But, as always, Joey Dorsey is talking.

The former Memphis Tiger told CBSSports.com on Friday morning that though Anderson and Dozier are still technically in the NBA Draft, they are planning to withdraw and return to college for their senior years.

"They will be coming back to school," Dorsey said. "Take it from me. They're coming back."

Assuming Dorsey is correct -- and he promised he is -- John Calipari is assured of another preseason Top 15 team even with the losses of Dorsey, Chris Douglas-Roberts and Derrick Rose. A probable Memphis starting lineup will be Willie Kemp, Tyreke Evans, Anderson, Dozier and Shawn Taggart.

Dorsey: Anderson and Dozier returning to Memphis

Memphisjoan, you're either REALLY stretching the limits of your imagination to find a point in the very brief write up where Dorsey is bashed so you can play victim or your reading comprehension skills are nil.  Seriously...nowhere in there does it read like he's bashing Dorsey.   There's no opinion inserted into the article it's entirely a reporting of the facts.

Dorsey: Anderson and Dozier returning to Memphis

VAN and the rest of the Memphis fans:  The majority of the KU fan base are classy and respect what Memphis did this season and the way they played on that championship night.  Dont paint our fan base on a few ignorant people please.  There were some sad posts by Memphis fans as well after the game, but I think most of you are as passionate about your Tigers as we are for our Jayhawks.

I have never been a big John Calipari (sp?) fan, but I gave it up to CDR, Rose and company.  I thought CDR was very gracious in defeat, blaming no one but himself.  I hope he has a great career in the NBA.

nice class, I'm sure the average Kansas fan is proud to have a douchebag like you speaking for them.  Fortunately, most of the Kansas fans I've talked to since the tourney have been class acts.....you on the other hand are a jackass.

Dorsey: Anderson and Dozier returning to Memphis

garyWhy would this give anybody a reason to bash Dorsey?

It gives people a reason for exactly the way you characterized Dorsey. You stated "as always, Joey is talking". Now, locally people understand how lovable and harmless a character Dorsey is. However, nationally the only thing people  remember is Joeys Greg Oden smack talk. It will be viewed as just some dumb thug running his mouth when he shouldnt be. This really isnt a news flash but, maybe you missed it. Did you not hear how many times the greg oden thing was brought up through out the year???? This just brings it back to life one more time before the draft.

Dorsey: Anderson and Dozier returning to Memphis

My family and I (all Memphis alums) attended the Final Four in San Antonio. After the end of the game, we were--naturally--VERY disappointed in the outcome. But we shook hands with and congratulated many Jayhawks fans on their victory. Nearly all of them were classy and gracious. Nearly all. But one fella clad in Jayhawk garb could not stop trash-talking as he passed us and others on the way down the steps toward the exit ramp. Rather than succumb to his baiting, my brother merely said, "Act like you've been there, Sir."

And Jayhawk fans--unlike Tiger fans--HAVE been there. I hope that we, too, will get 'there" someday, and, that when we do, we'll conduct ourselves with as much dignity and good will as that great majority of fans we met exiting the Alamodome.

But the poster above I merely refer back to my brother's admonition.

Congrats Jayhawks!

Go Tigers!
