It's ALWAYS been an SEC problem t-hawg(whatever kind of a school has a pig as mascot). Why do you think the NCAA threw the book and shutdown the football program at SMU and yet for similar infractions, slapped Alabama on the wrist?? The NCAA has always been biased when it comes to rules enforcement! Also, whay in the hell is Arkansas a member of the SEC when they should, geographically speaking, belong in the the Big 12??

When the hell did we all decide this an SEC problem? Have you been on the moon the past 30 years? These types of things are happening all over college and profesional sports and yoo're going to go on an SEC parade, Phidiots (Whatever kind of screenname that is).

Look at teams like FSU, USC, Oklahaoma and countless others who have players involved in misconduct and look the other way. It's a cultural problem in sports. Not an SEC problem you blathering idiot.

I see where you are coming from with your comment, but you miss out on the simple truth. When you do something that sets you apart from others or holds you in a higher regard than the "average joe' then you are going to be headline news when you fall. We do see news about non-famous people getting in trouble we just don't stop and talk about them as much. Being famous carries with it more than a big pay-check and fans, it carries with it a certain responsibility but that goes unnoticed. If you are preparing to be a role model for children, a hero to the average person but you can't stay off the drugs, keep your item in your pants, or whatever then it makes big news because people are disappointed by you. I know that people are people and falliable no matter their title but the simple fact is that everyone wants a hero and everyone wants to be a fan and they put too much stock and faith in them. They are just talented people plain and simple and their talents get exploited so that they and the people around them can get rich.

I think that the media has nothing to write about, so they write about anyone who had their name metioned on television, because we all want to hear about these former athletes and their life issues after they have left their comfy little college lives and have to make it in the real world. so another coke-head, and rapist (aggressor) . worlds full of them, look around this is not anything new.

The simple answer to "How can you rape someone you love? is, ignore, "NO!".

Has anyone talked to his girlfriend?  Did he have any scratches, bruises, etc.? 

As for the prison rape comments, it was funny the first million times you hear it.  Now it's getting old.  How would you like being gang raped?  Especially when they prey on the weak.  What if you were in for something like forgery, or vehicular manslaughter because you made one mistake in your whole life?  10 years of being sodomized?  Anyone see "The Sawshank Redemption?"

Let the justice system sort it out, and if he is guilty, then 10 years is fair.  However, he has already been tried and convicted here.  Sad commentary.

BTW, Dupay isn't even newsworthy anymore.  He was barely newsworthy when he played for the Gators.  Just another reason for the Gator Haters to start coming out of the woodwork.  Matt Jones, on the other hand, is still a professional athlete.  He is still newsworthy. 

Okay, first off, Dupay needs to have his genatalia area cartarized so he does not have the opportunity to misuse his God-given attributes any more.  Furthermore, you watch, they will send him to some type of institutional setting for reeducation afternoon sessions with other people who do not know how to control themselves and have no self-discipline whatsoever...blah, blah, blah.

I do take exception however, with the notion that it was a bad day to be an ex-SEC player.  Bad day to be a Hog or Gator alumn, certainly.  However, as an SWC grad married to and living in SEC alumn country I can vouch for the character of many a grad.  Don't lump the whole conference into sexual perverts and perpetrators who love snorting lines of white death, there are a vast majority of SEC grads making a concrete difference in the world where they live.  Keep up the good work, though.  I enjoy your columns.

Well, this was a well thought-out article.  Not.

First off , whether sex is rough or gentle has nothing to do with the matter of rape.  What matters is consent.   There are cases of consentual sex involving bruises, etc., and there are lots of rapes that involve no physical marks.  Maybe he did rape this woman, and if so, he deserves whatever punishment the system doles out.

Second, I hope that you're not condoning jailhouse rapes.  While it makes easy fodder for jokes, it's simply barbaric.  If this guy is guilty, jail will be his punishment - not jail AND repeated raping. 

Really, perhaps the most disappointing article you've written.
