Something to make you puke

Sports fans can be demented, mean, angry, nasty, violent and just plain crass.
And George Lampman is cashing in on it.

Lampman is taking advantage of the season-ending knee injury suffered by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to make a buck.

Lampman, who has a silk-screen printing company in Pittsburgh, has unveiled t-shirts that laud Kansas City Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard, the man who knocked Brady out for the season, as some kind of hero.

For $19.99, you can buy a Bernard Pollard fan club shirt, complete with a No. 12 (Brady's number) circled and crossed out. The shirt says the fan club was established Sept. 7, 2008, which is the day Brady went down.

Sick.

To me, this is a sign of how demented some fans have become.
Lampman doesn't argue the point.

"I can totally see where you're coming from," said Lampman, who is a diehard Steelers fan.

Isn't it crass, I asked?

"I can't disagree," he said.

So why do it? There's sadly a market out there. I spoke to Lampman Wednesday night for five minutes.

"I've sold six while we were talking," he said.

So who's ordering? The New York Jets fans are buying them with on addendum.

"They want them sent overnight so they can have them for Sunday," Lampman said.

Disgusting.

Don't people who buy these shirts realize that this is a man's livelihood we're talking about? When I mentioned that to Lampman, he callously replied, "he's not losing any money this year and I'm sure it's no career-ending."

Pollard can't be happy about this.  He was sick about putting Brady out.

It's one thing not to like a player if you're a fan. It's another to make light of a serious situation.

Lampman said he might make up to $20,000 on the shirts. He's had 500 orders or so already.
I almost didn't write this because it only feeds the monster. But the whole issue is so sickening that I thought it needed to be pointed out just how low some of our fans have gone.

Sorry MVP, Boston is no better. Patriot fans threw glass bottles at me in the parking lot of Foxbor wearing my Steeler shirt. Had my g/f with me. Had something to do with Kevin Henry intercepting Bledsoe that day. I was doing nothing but walking to my cah.

nybites, I'm sure that it did happen to you. There are morons, and drunken idiots everywhere, and I'm very sorry that happened to you. It must have happened to a lot of visiting fans, because Bledsoe has thrown an awful lot of picks. The person I was responding to, was talking about Boston fans, and their t-shirts about the Yankees, and how Yankees fans were treated by Boston fans. I was just referring to the way we are treated by NY fans. I live in New Hampshire now. I used to live about 5 miles North of Boston, but I couldn't stand living that close to Boston. I'm only 45 minutes from Boston, but the atmosphere feels like a thousand miles from there. I've seen other fans, of other teams being harassed by Boston's fans (of all the major sports), and me, and my friends have interceded on their behalf. It's a game folks. Just enjoy it. What fun is it to go to jail after a fun night (or day) out.

I want what you are smoking, injuries in football are inevitable they happen to the undrafted rookie in a preseason game and they will happen to the star and face of a team.  Other starts went down too, or do you only see news on the Red Sox and Patriots. Strahan is gone and Osi is out does that take the target of the Giants back? If they repeat this year were they just playing with house money again? Shawne Merriman is out and the Chargers Defense is now suspect does that make the Raiders more likely to snag that division?

I thought bandwagon fans were bad enough but you true fans are clearly insane when you defend a team that doesn't lift the trophy after they rip through records and legends (Moss has no love for Jerry?) and then decide when your golden boy goes down it is time to take shots at the league because your team will be in the majority come february, sitting at home.

Save your time taking shots at Atlanta or Minnesota or any team I have a liking to it will not draw a response from me.

Something to make you puke

I am so sick of hearing this crap about scoring a lot of points.  The Pats learned the hard way in the AFC Championship game when they were up 21-3 and lost the game, what happens when you take the pedal off.  Maybe most teams weren't following that because their teams had already started golfing for the offseason, but that must have crushed them.  Obviously it was a huge incentive for how the team was going to play in 2007.  They tried to be perfect and not blow any games they had a lead in.  Did anyone question it when the Rams did it in 99 or the Colts did the same thing or worse in their run a few years ago.  No they thought they were a great team and respected them.  Brady made a good point last year.  2 years ago when Miami was killing us 21-0, they never let up.  They kept blitzing and killing Brady even with only a couple minutes left in the game.  He blamed himsefl and his team for a poor performance, never whined about the fact that the Dolphins didn't let up.  And by the way, the Pats haven't lost a regular season game since that.

Now back to the article.  It is disgusting.  I know that SD is weaker now because of Merriman being out.  That sucks for him and SD because they had a good shot this year.  I was releived at the thought that they might be easier to beat, but not once did I celebrate the thought of an amazing player like him being out for the year.  Same goes for OSI with the Giants.  It hurts the NFL to have incredible players like these out for the year.  A true fan can respect the incredible talent of an opponent even as they route wholeheartedly for their team.

And ask yourself why you hate Brady.  Because he is great at what he does.  Is an awesome leader who always credits his team, coaches and fans and never blames anyone but himself even when he has had no weapons around him.  Who after breaking so many records, responded to a question of whether he was unhappy not being one of the top paid QBs in the game, with saying not at all we are all overpaid to do what we love.

You stated that you "hate that Brady got hurt, but what goes around, comes around". How does that cliche apply to Brady. He never, ever hurt anybody in a football game. Now if the Patriots got their asses handed to them by large amounts, in a few games in a row, then that statement would work well. It sounds moronic the way that you chose to use it.;

Am I the only one who noticed Tom Brady dates flat chested models who look like boys? I think he's queer. I'll bet he pays the models to date him as a cover story so he and Big Bill B. don't get caught.

What goes around comes back around

Ya heck with tom brady, ill take a shirt.  I mean, is the season goin to be as exciting without him?  will the colts pats game be a special event like it has been for the last 5 years?  no and no, but pats fans hear me out...this is all karma   First you guys got busted for cheating in your past superbowl years, your coach is the biggest a**hole is professional sports, and you guys ran up the score in every game last to break records....when peyton threw 49 tds he was benched in third quarter of most games...they did it with class, while the pats were throwing bombs to moss with 2 minutes left up be 40 against washington...so do i feel bad? absolutly not...you all had it comming

You are another moron, who I'm guessing is a Colts' fan. Tom didn't leave his pregnant girlfriend, she left him. What does class have to do with athletic ability when he is throwing touchdowns. All those QB's you named are also some of the best QB's to ever play the game, and Brady can be included in that group. You obviously think that Brady knew every defensive call, on every offensive play that he ran, for 7 seasons. The reason I think that you are a Colts' fan, is that last year, after the Colts lost to the Pats, all we ever heard in the New England area, was that the Colts' fans would rather lose with class, than win with Bellichick. Everything out of their mouths was about being classy. I never heard anything like it in my life. People with class, don't have to tell people tyhat they have class, so you need to get some sir.
