Jags nearing deal to acquire wideout Holt

Barring an unforseen snag in contract negotiations, the Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to announce the signing of veteran Torry Holt to a two-year contract Monday.

Holt, who played 10 seasons with the St. Louis Rams, would immediately become the team's No. 1 receiver. The Jaguars have a huge void at the postion, which is why they are willing to look past Holt's knee troubles and the fact some in St. Louis think he's slowed down.

Holt caught 64 passes last season, but his 12.4 per-catch average was the lowest of his career. The Jaguars could also draft a receiver early in Saturday's draft.

Jags nearing deal to acquire wideout Holt

The Jags have landed a quality receiver and good person.  My Jags have been miserable in drafting quality players and I'm fricking excited about the direction we're heading.  It's about time we get somebody in the FO that can make sound decisions.  Cleveland, you got the worst GM in NFL history who is a huge racist.  Here are his selcetions

Byron Leftwich - JDR wanted Terrell Suggs (Worst QB I've ever seen)

Matt Jones - POS (Coke head)

Reggie Williams -POS (Druggie)

Reggie Nelson - YTD - not lookign good.

Derek Harvey - YTD

I think I'm missing a loser in there somewhere.

In regards to Garrard sucking, I have to totally disagree.  From the start of the season last year he was sacked or knocked down at least 10 times per game. Our O-Line was a M.A.S.H unit with 4 of starters place on IR the first 2 weeks of the season.  He is a solid QB and can make the throws.  He has cut 20 lbs already this year and should give him even more mobility.

Tre Thomas was a huge p/u for the Jags, signing MJD and Holt instantly puts us in contention for the division.

GO JAGS!

Jags nearing deal to acquire wideout Holt

It always kills me when the media and so called experts, quickly try to drum up a story of a player falling off pace.  They did it with Kurt Warner, Joe Montana and Jerry Rice, just to name a few.  It's called a team sport for a reason and that reason is you have to field an entire team to be successful.  One gent mentioned the protection for Bulger, and I absolutely agree 100%.  A receiver is going to see his catch #'s drop if the QB can't get him the ball because he is being killed.  And let's look at the comment "12.4 per catch was the lowest of his career.".   No kidding?  Did you ever think that if the QB is getting his junk kicked in, that he may be throwing the ball much quicker which means receivers are cutting their routes and it is placing them right next to 255lb LBs instead of a 165lb DB?  I'm not a Tory Holt fan, but don't be surprised if he comes out generating numbers closer to what is expected merely because he is on a team that has an O line that knows how to block.

Jags nearing deal to acquire wideout Holt

This deal looks like Torry Holt looking for one last payday. Holt, is coming off several injuiried plagued seasons and it is not about winning or else he would of signed with several other teams.

Torry...why did you pick the Jags. You are leaving one loser and joining another. WOW there had to be other teams out there that are better than the Jags and at least have a QB that can get the ball to you. The Bears could have been a great place for you to land.

Yeah Holt will be the #1 WR on this team. Why wouldn't he be. Northcutt 44 catches, Lewis 41 catches, and Walker 16 catches and between those 3 WR's they had a whopping total of 4 TD's. MJD is the top returning reciever on this team.

Garrard had 15 TD passes and 13 Int, and averaged 208 yds passing a game, and was sacked 42 times last year. Sounds like numbers from the Rams.  Garrard is not that good of a QB and Holt may not even match his numbers from last year playing on this run orianted team.

The Jags were 24th in scoring at 18.9 pts. a game, and their so-called good "D" ended up not being that good.

If Holt would have looked at the Jags schedual he could have seen he was once again going to be playing for a losing team...Indy twice, Houston twice, Tenn. twice, Miami, Arizona, and New England. Thats 9 losses right there.

Best 2009 Jag season wirthout Holt... 7-9.

Best 2009 Jag season with Holt...7-9.

Wow... Maybe the Jags do want to win a game.  Great choice just keep this up and don't make crazy draft choices.
