What are the Vikings doing?

Five-game totals: Two touchdown passes, nine interceptions, no games with a passer rating over 61.4 and one game with a completion percentage over 60.

You want that guy?

I don't.

Add in the fact that he will turn 40 this October and it's a definite stay away. Those numbers belong to Brett Favre in his last five games of 2008 for the New York Jets.

Yet the Minnesota Vikings are reportedly going to meet with Favre to discuss him possibly signing on to be their quarterback. Wasn't Fran Tarkenton available?

Favre is done. He can't throw the ball down the field anymore. The gunslinger has no bullets left. He shoots blanks.

Will Favre ever go away?

What this looks like to me is a desperate attempt by a coach who will likely be out if he doesn't win. Brad Childress needs to make the playoffs, or he's done. So he might think Favre is a better option than Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels? I don't and that's despite thinking the other two aren't very good.

If the Vikings sign Favre, he'd be the third-best starting quarterback in the division behind Chicago's Jay Cutler and Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers.

At this time last year, many thought the Packers were nuts to go with Rodgers and let Favre go elsewhere. Ted Thompson was right. Favre is done.

He's also not a great teammate. He's aloof. He's distant. He doesn't hang with the guys. He didn't even dress with them in Green Bay at the end.

You want that, Brad?

This screams desperation.  I know Favre said he had a bad throwing shoulder late last year, but is that any better now? Those last five games are telling. The Jets also went 1-4 in them to miss out on the playoffs.

Packers fans will say they'll hate seeing him wearing purple. Don't. It gives your team a better chance to win the division.

Favre to Minnesota improves the playoff chances of the Bears and Packers, not the Vikings.

What are the Vikings doing?

I still fail to understand why so many go after these guys when all you really wrote was a line of insults. Good grief. This was a good article, and it's the truth. The Vikings are a young team and they should build on that strength. Things may not come together next year for them, but a couple seasons and a couple good drafts down the road and a couple key signings not named Brett Favre and they can contend in their division.

What are the Vikings doing?

Just because the Bears got Cutler does not make them the team to beat in the NFC north (their defense got worse last year and they did not address their needs enough this off season to help it out).  The packers have aaron rodgers, great!  they are now going to be the 2009 version of the Broncos, score tons of points but lose anyway (their switch to the 3-4 is going to take time to get good--as in 2 or 3 seasons, plus their corners can no longer cover a hot dog if they were called mustard and relish.
No the team to beat is still the Vikings, who last year played to a 10-6 record with Gus Ferrotte.  Sage is the same or better and has some states that can compete with Cutler's (his completion % is the same as Cutler but his overall W-L record is better!)  Adding Favre will make the team better.  Defenses will have to respect the pass more, freeing up Peterson and Harvin by the line of scrimmage, and Favre won't be asked to throw the ball 30+ times a game every game as AP and Harvin will carry more of the load--allowing Favre to be fresh deeper into the season and the playoffs!

What are the Vikings doing?

Wow..  this has to be one of the worst anyalytical articles ever.  You do follow some football, right?  Favre is easily and improvement over anything the Vikings have at this point.  He knows how to when and gets it done when healthy.  As mentioned in one of the other posts, he was an mvp candidate before coming up with and injury last year, and the talent he had to work with on the Jets last year was mediocre at best.  The only real concern is - "Is he healthy?"  Not if he dresses in the locker room, or goes out to hang with the boys.  There is no real risk in finding that out.  Bring him in, if he can't throw the ball down the field, oh well, go with one of the other guys on your roster and you have lost nothing.

Better team with Farve no doubt

Thomas Jones was headed down a path towards retirement and then the Jets got Farve and he blew up last year. Can you imagine how good A Pete will be with Farve and how good Taylor will be catching the dump offs from him. They will win 12 games if Farve stays healthy and their defense will jump up to top 3 in the NFL as they wont be on the field as much. Teams respect Brett and always will. If you dont then he throws for TDs all day. Its proven. I'm not a Farve fan but the facts are facts. He is the goods and an awesome player and an even better competitor. Prisco's blog is really quite stupid and seems to be written just to spark replies which it has done. I dont think Prisco believes his blog. Any sane sports fan knows this version of Farve is still a top 12 QB and is a huge upgrade over what they have. Seriously, I have watched TJ for 2 seasons and he is horrible and I really dont see how he is still playing QB in the league. Teams stack up the box all game and he cant beat them much less get a first down.  Minn wins the division easily with a healthy Farve as Green Bay brass and Rogers will melt down over this and Cutler will be exposed as a total fraud.

What are the Vikings doing?

I agree.  I think Favre is washed up.  He had lightning in a bottle two years ago with the PAck.  What did he do in the two previous seasons and last season.  Not Much!  In fact, let him go to the Vikings.  I am a Bear fan anyway.  Let him destroy that team.  Good for the Bears and Pack.

The Vikings with Gus and Tarvaris Jackson were a better team than the Bears last year... I know.. I know.. You've got Jay Culter.. but if you wanna talk about fading Qbs how about you go look at how Cutler played down the stretch last year.

What are the Vikings doing?

Someone explain to me please why all you "die-hard" Favre fans for life.. are all of a sudden saying you were WRONG and that his Legacy is going down the toilet?

Green Bay CAST HIM OFF the team, and blocked him from playing for a legitimate contender like he wanted.  How does that make him a bad man?  He is a competitor and he wants to go out on top.  Montana to Cheifs, Carter to Dolphins, Jordan came back, Lemieux came back...  why is it OK for those guys and not Brett?  The only difference is you didn't see the 49'ers or Vikings put in some ridiculous stipulations to keep their guys... faces of THIER franchises... from playing for the team they wanted.  The Packer organization SLAPPED him in the face and BRIBED HIM to stay retired!  He wanted to come back to play for YOU... GB said "No."

If you guys are gonna hop off the Favre fan bandwagon because your own team DUMPED him... and he still wants to win, then you apparently weren't as big of fans as you thought.  Brett has a right to choose to want to play again if he wants to.  YOUR TEAM SHUT THE DOOR ON HIM - not the other way around.

Please Brett, come to Minnesota.  I don't even care if the reason is only to stuff it in the Cheeseheads faces... you all deserve it.

HIS SHOULDER IS FINE! He has a torn bicep... I wish someone would realize those are two entirely different injuries.

Cool  I don't see the problem either. If anything he can show the other two QB's a thing or two.
Not giving up anything is absolutely correct. Hopoefully if he does sign it all works out for all involved.
