Vick back -- sort of

Mike Vick can play NFL football again.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell did exactly what I reported he would do last week, which is to let Vick sign with a team -- just not fully reinstate him.
Vick, based on the conditional re-instatement Monday by Goodell, can now sign with any team, but won't be able to play until the sixth game -- at the earliest.
Which team will sign him with that hanging over his head? You'd be taking a public-relations beating for a player who will give you 10 gmaes at the most.
Did Goodell stick it to Vick? A little. Is it deserved? Somewhat, but I'd probably have allowed him to play now with the caveat that one miststep would end his career.
So who signs Vick? There haven't been a lot of teams linked to him. None in fact if we're being honest. I still think the best place for him is the UFL, where he would play for Orlando and earn $1 million for six games. People will come see him out of curiosity and then he can get back to the NFL next year.
At 29, who knows what the two years off will do to him? At least by playing in the UFL, he can show the NFL scouts what he can do.
Vick is back. Just not all the way and still without a team.
Talk about a career going to the dogs.
