Vick back -- sort of

Mike Vick can play NFL football again.

Sort of.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally reinstated Vick Monday. Vick is free to sign with any team immediately, but he will not be fully reinstated. Goodell will make a decision by Week Six at the latest, but that decision could come earlier.

That means Vick is twisting in the wind. There is still uncertainty about when he will be able to play. Wtih that hanging over his head, who signs him?

Would you take a PR nightmare for the possibility of having him for 10 or 11 games? I wouldn't. Most teams won't either.

So who signs him? Teams haven't exactly lined up, but they might have been waiting for the commissioner to make his decision. Now that it's out, we'll see.

I've heard the New England Patriots mentioned, but that makes no sense. What would they do, take snaps away from Tom Brady? Make him a receiver?

It makes no sense.

I think Vick's best option is to play in the UFL with Orlando. He can make $1 million for six games and show he can still play after two years of inactivity.

I hear he wants no part of that league. But if he has no options, we'll see.

Vick really isn't an attractive option to the NFL right now. He made it that way when he stupidly fought the dogs. Goodell enhanced it Monday with his ruling.

Vick is back. Just not all the way.

Who wants him? Anybody?

Goodell would look at this idea and immediately crumple it up and throw it in the trash. People could care less if he throws frisbees to a dog! I assume you were being sarcastic when you said you wish he could read this idea. If so, then its funny...if youre serious, wow

I would not say he has "more than paid his debt," but I think he has done his time and that's that. I still despise what he did. Comparing him to Stallworth is strictly straw man territory. FWIW, I think PETA is an irresponsible, irrational organization that supports animals over people. STILL does not excuse Vick and I would not want him on my team, but he has been punished and should now be free to go about his business, whatever that is.

Chargers LT#1,

I can agree with everything you are saying....but it is not you, you get it.  He deserved the jail time he got for what he did, it could have been much worse, and in that scense he was lucky.  What bothers me is people calling him a murderer, call him a criminal, call him a felon, call him inhumane,  but he is not a murder by any definition.

People arent mad on this post because he is a criminal, they are mad because he killed dogs.  And many are acting as though he is a psycho path, a serial killer I think that is rediculious.  I would be willing to bet that Stallworth gets another DUI before Vick is ever involved in anything like this again.

He is a QB, better than Matt Ryan also.  Don't get me wrong Matt is good but no Vick.  And I love him for getting our team back to a contender.    As a Falcon's fan you should be ashamed of yourself!!  I been going to Falcons games since 82 Mick Vick is the best thing to every come through ATL..  The dome will never be the same...

I think it is funny that you can classify what stallworth did as unintentional.  In todays society anyone that gets in a vehicle to drive under the influence of alcohol or any other drug has an understanding of the risk they are taking.  I also find it funny that you call him remorseful, what has he done since being released????  Has he contacted MADD or any of the other groups?  Did you ever listen to some of the statements made right after the accident?

Fist he said he hit a man that was lying in the street, then he said he had enough time to honk and flash his lights, that the man was crossing outside of the cross walk.  He wasnt walking across an interstate, he was walking across an intersection to a bus stop.  According to police, the could not tell if the man was in or out of the cross walk when the accident happened only that he was close to one.  They said that Stallworth accelorated to pass a car and killed the man.

That is murder, he got into his Bently knowing he was intoxicated, knowing it was against the law thinking he was above societies rules and as a result a human being lost his life.  Who said Michael Vick murdered innocent livnig things, murder does not cover living things, murder is a term only referenced when someone kills another human being.  Here is the definiition of murder from
Law. the killing of another human being under conditions specifically covered in law. In the U.S., special statutory definitions include murder committed with malice aforethought, characterized by deliberation or premeditation or occurring during the commission of another serious crime, as robbery or arson (first-degree murder), and murder by intent but without deliberation or premeditation (second-degree murder).
I am not saying that Michael Vick was right in what he did, I am not defending Michael Vick for what he did.  He is a conficted felon and as such deserves what he got, it is not my place to say whether or not it was just.  I saying that he can not and should not be classified as a murder.

Michael Vick did not murder anyone.

Wally I have noticed you have said this a couple times, regarding Mike not working with the Humane Society....last I heard he was moving forward with a campaign against dog fighting......I have looked on the internet for something stating what you are claiming and as of the 21st of July he was still working with them.....

Can you supply a link that backs this up?  Thanks.

All you posters that are saying it was dogs not humans and Donte' Stallworth only did 30 days and Vick got screwed are clueless.

Michael Vick went to prison for running an illegal dog fighting organization and for illegal gambling across State lines.

So quit saying they made an example out of him and it was ONLY dogs.  The inhumane treatment of the dogs had very little to do with his sentencing.

I think Vick has paid his debt and he should be able to play in the NFL if the commissioner allows it.
