Vick back -- sort of

Mike Vick can play NFL football again.

Sort of.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell conditionally reinstated Vick Monday. Vick is free to sign with any team immediately, but he will not be fully reinstated. Goodell will make a decision by Week Six at the latest, but that decision could come earlier.

That means Vick is twisting in the wind. There is still uncertainty about when he will be able to play. Wtih that hanging over his head, who signs him?

Would you take a PR nightmare for the possibility of having him for 10 or 11 games? I wouldn't. Most teams won't either.

So who signs him? Teams haven't exactly lined up, but they might have been waiting for the commissioner to make his decision. Now that it's out, we'll see.

I've heard the New England Patriots mentioned, but that makes no sense. What would they do, take snaps away from Tom Brady? Make him a receiver?

It makes no sense.

I think Vick's best option is to play in the UFL with Orlando. He can make $1 million for six games and show he can still play after two years of inactivity.

I hear he wants no part of that league. But if he has no options, we'll see.

Vick really isn't an attractive option to the NFL right now. He made it that way when he stupidly fought the dogs. Goodell enhanced it Monday with his ruling.

Vick is back. Just not all the way.

Who wants him? Anybody?

"Clinton Portis said the same thing after Vick's arrest in support of the QB (later appologized) but the fact is that dog fighting in the deep south is similar to cock fighting as a spectacle in Puerto Rico or Mexico.  It's barbaric and horrible and I certainly dont condone it, but it's not something that Vick just decided to pick up out of the blue, knowing the full consequences. "

Unfortunately, MV had a chance to make a difference against dog fighting by working with the Humane Society or some other larger animal org but has chosen not to do so. I'm pretty surprised that he wasn't even able to muster up a bit just to 'fake' his way through some public service work with the Humane Society (who was trying to work with him).

Yes we're all affected by our backgrounds but as far as I'm concerned, this guy has done ZERO to make ammends so he will remain a lowlife in my book.

They were animals for God's sake, not humans.  I'm not saying it was right but I'm pretty sure that he was made an example of and paid way more of a price than some murderer's do.  The guy paid his debt, so leave him the F alone.

Let's also not forget (and this doesn't excuse it) that dog fighting is something that was apart of Vick's life from a very early age.  Clinton Portis said the same thing after Vick's arrest in support of the QB (later appologized) but the fact is that dog fighting in the deep south is similar to cock fighting as a spectacle in Puerto Rico or Mexico.  It's barbaric and horrible and I certainly dont condone it, but it's not something that Vick just decided to pick up out of the blue, knowing the full consequences.  Hopefully, with Tony Dungey's help, he'll further realize why his past behavior was wrong and enraged so many people.

How is that Michael Vick served more time in prison for the fighting and killing of the dogs than OJ Simpson, who was acquitted of murder killings of two human beings?  What sense does that make?  In America, the value of the lives of animals should not be on par with that of humans.  We eat animals.  All of us as humans, not dogs, make mistakes and wrong decisions.  It's just that Vick made a really bad choice a few years ago with what he did.  It's not like he has a long rap sheet like Pac Man Jones who did multiple offenses.  That's no reason to write him off.  You mess up in life and then you're done?  Whatever happened to an opportunity to turn your life around?  Other people have done it, so why can't Vick?

This Goodell guy has way too much unrestricted reign with the NFL players.  There needs to be some checks and balances set up so that no one person can just do whatever he feel likes.  I'm telling you that this thing about following up Vick in his private life, if ever suits up for an NFL franchise, he's going to fight those clauses in court.  Even if he loses, I think it will lead to limitations of a commissioner's power.

HOW IS IT THAT THE POLICE SAID WE HAVE NO INTENTIONS ON PURSUING AN INVESTIGATION IN THAT CASE, BUT THESE JERKS WANT TO KNOW IF VICK IS REHABILITATED?How exactly are the police going to pursue a rape case a year later? What evidence would there be? The woman did not go to a hospital and get examined. They woman did not file a police report. The police don't look into a crime when noone is reporting a crime. This is purely a he said/she said case. There is a ZERO % chance that a case like that would ever see the light of day in a court, so why would the police waste time, money, and resources pursuing it?

Aah, the irony. I wonder if he would have to stay away from that end of the field!
