Dance, Vikings fans, dance.

You won't have Brett Favre.

That's the good news. The bad news, who do you have?

Accoridng to the Minnesota Star-Tribune, Favre has informed Vikings coach Brad Childress that he will stay retired. Packers fans have to hate that.

Favre would have been a disaster in Minnesota. He can't throw the ball down the field and the Vikings need somebody who can.
Now they will turn to either Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels. I'd go with the former. He threw nine touchdowns and two interceptions last year. That's not bad.

Give him a chance.

But I get a sneaky suspicion that the Vikings will now turn their attention Mike Vick. That would be a mistake as well.
Vick can't pass the football. Jackson completed 59.1 percent of his passes last season. Vick never did that in his career.

The Vikings didn't need Favre. They don't need Vick either.

They aren't the answer. If they wanted to fix their quarterback problem, why didn't they go after Jay Cutler?
As for Favre, hope that butt is in shape. Sitting on the tractor can be painful.

Not the Vikings hold the #2 seed, 1st round bye & Farve is putting up career #'s.  Meanwhile Prisco's guy Cutler leads league in int's.

It might be time to write another article...someting about the fact you were not only wrong but you look like a dopey fool.

think it may be more the fact that his shoulder will not allow him to be able to make the throws he used to.

Obviously.  It's not like Prisco was saying that Favre NEVER COULD throw the ball downfield. Give me a break.  The bottom line is that Favre is NOT the qb he once was, not even close. Favre is damaged goods and with a few more hits would only get worse.

The Vikings need a permanent fix at the qb position, not a temporary fix like Favre would provide.

I'll debate it with you all day....
Dumbest: "Jackson completed 59.1% of his passes last year."
The point was Jackson is a better passer than Mike Vick.  Im not saying Jackson is the answer but I'll stay with TJack over the convict.

Jackson's completion percentage may have been o.k. but you have to consider the amount of times that he threw a 3 yard completion on 3rd and 9 to the fullback. He is not the answer.

But I bet you like McNabb right??  Gonna take a wild swing and guess you'll tell me what an great QB McNabb is.  Same offense dump it off to the FB.

I can't believe how much flack Prisco is taking from you guys for his opinion. It's kinda funny actually !!  Some of you guys said you wanted "facts", well I'll list some for you.

1) Favre is NOT the qb he used to be, it's not even close.

2) Favre is NOT healthy anymore, and most likely at his age with the wear and tear and lack of playing that would never again change.

3) Vickings management needs to take the time to find out if Tavaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfel  can help them or not. They couldn't and wouldn't do that if Favre was their qb this year.

4) If Favre was the qb this year, there was never even close to a guarantee that you would make the playoffs let alone win the superbowl. Football is a very very tough sport that requires much more then a qb. And then even if you have everything else you need, you need to remain healthy at all key positions to make a run. And even then there is no guarantee.

5) Favre would slow down the growth process and future of the Vikings. They would do nothing else to improve that situation and when he leaves in a year you're stuck in the exact same situation you are in now. That situation is 2 qb's and no guarantees of who is better.

6) Prisco is not stupid when it comes to stating his opinion of who is better between the qb's the have now.  It is NOT CLEAR CUT. These are both marginal, average qb's at best. So quit trying to make him look stupid just because you see it differently.

The Vikings are BIGGER then Brett Favre will ever be. It is a solid organization known for producing some good quality players over the years.  No, they haven't really won anything in a long time but who has??  Aside from New England and Pittsburgh and maybe Indi nobody in this league has anything over the Vikings.

They need to focus on TODAY and not dreams ! Dreams they had of Favre coming back and becoming the player he was 3 years ago. That simply was never the case and was never going to happen. So in that sense, you should be happy that this game is finally over and the start of the season is coming up. I know I'm excited...

I agree 100% WillisReed!!!  To add another point, what was Jackson's QB rating when he had to throw over 25 times per game?  Answer....< 60. Farve would have been an upgrade at the position, but his antics and unwillingness to help other QBs develop (John David Booty) would have been a detriment to the Vikings.

It doesn't really matter who they have at QB when it's always the same.  1st and 10:  AP up the middle, 2nd and 7: fade to Berrian - incomplete, 3rd and 7:  2 yd swing to fullback......punt.

I don't understand why going after Vick would be a mistake. If you're a Viking's fan (I'm not), would you rather have Vick, Jackson or Rogenfels? I would pick Vick. He has more talent than the other two and if he can still play the game, put him in the backfield with Peterson and watch out.

I understand there's a chance his skills have eroded, but even if you sign him and he has nothing left you still have two guys who could step in. But if it's apparent he does have something left, then the Vikings are a legit Super Bowl threat. Even the most ardent Viking fan has to admit with Jackson leading the way this team isnt going all the way, but with Vick there's at least some potential.

For Prisco to so defiantly say that Jackson and Rosenfels are definitely better than Vick is idiotic. The only way you could make that case is if you think Vick's skills are gone. And he doesn't. Another word class piece of writing.
