Titans make right move

If I had a team, Vince Young wouldn't be my quartertback.

I like my passers in the pocket. I like them to read the field. I like them to work.

Young does none of that.

But the Tennessee Titans need to play him, which is why the decision to start him this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars is the right one.

Whether Jeff Fisher likes Young or offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger wants him -- word is it's a no on both counts -- the Titans have to play Young the next 10 weeks. What's the worst thing that can happen: They lose all their games.

They've done that already anyway.

What the Titans will likely find out is that Young is what they thought he was the past two years, a run-around quarterback who can make some plays with his legs and not with his arm.

But his age says he deserves a shot to show what he can do.

I think he'll fail.

And I think the Titans will have Sam Bradford or Jake Locker playing quarterback next season as a rookie.

It will be rebuild time.

But they have to find out if Young has anything at all. The guess here is that he doesn't.

Titans make right move

I think that they made the right move also.  I believe that he can be a productive NFL quaterback with some exerience.  Also it has been proven by michael Vick that you don't have to be a pocket passer to suceed in the league.  Vick had an excellent career and you eventually will too, even though it might not be with the tennessee titans.

Titans make right move

Wow Pisco that's deep, you come up with this blah-blah while taking your morning constitution? *sniff-snifff* It sure does smell like it.

The right move would have been to find a way to either deal Young, renegotiate his contract to a shorter term or just cut his arse outright and deal with the cap hit.

The Titans need a franchise signal caller, but it might not be found in the draft. Do you remember Schaub sitting on the bench behind Vick? I know I wasn't alone in thinking the Falcons would of had more success with Matt. The reality was that Vick put butts in the seats, period. It stand to reason though that another above average signal caller is riding the pine somewhere.

Brady Quinn, Matt Flynn, Chris Simms, Tyler Thigpen, Kellen Clemmens,

I'm not saying any of these players will make it as franchise QBs but the price tag compared to Vince's and the possibility of developing a signal caller outwiegh the risk.

Sounds crazy, but taking a shot at Rex Grossman might not be a bad idea. Ever seen a QB who had a rough start find success later in his career?

The Titans are not in need of a stud signal caller, just a guy that can come in and limit turnovers while keeping an above average third down completion percentage. You know, what Kerry Collins was doing last season before he remembered that he was, well, Kerry Collins.

Titans make right move

Eli is 6' 4", but since I actually got to watch him every weekend (I lived in NY up until 3 months ago) I can tell you that he was one of the skinniest looking QBs when he first started. It wasn't about being tall or short, it was about being skinny and Bradford is skinny, too skinny.

all kerri did was hand the ball off to lendale white in the redzone while chris johnson tore up the field between the 20s.  The team sucked in 06 and vince turned the team around, his second year he took us to the playoffs and the team wasnt as good as our 08 team.  Collins sucks and Fisher is losing his edge.  I hope Vince beasts out and shuts all u haters and doubters the F up

um no, he's not. I didn't get to watch him in Texas...but I get to watch him here in TN...and he lacks the skills to be Pro QB.... when he ran the offense....we were last in the league in scoring in the RED ZONE...Collins isn't great...but when ran the offense we were the 3rd best scoring team in the Red Zone...

What about tools to succeed?

David Garrard deals with a bad defense too and he is not as bad as VY.  Rookie of the year, what a joke.  I think the reason the media wails on him now is because they promoted him so much over MoJoD of Jax in 2007 and VY's true ability was shown in the first game of last year.  VY isn't even as good as Byron Leftwich, he is a head case.

You pretty much took the words from my mouth. haha  I hope Vince gets traded to a team that gives him the tools he needs to succeed.  I live in Austin Tx and I have been able to watch him play for the Longhorns in person.  He's much better than what the Titans are allowing him to be right now.

What are you talking about? Eli Mannning is freaking 6'4", dude. Also, Drew Brees, listed at 6'0", is actually 5'10" or 5'11", and we all know how good he is.

Titans make right move

STOP the presses people...every media person within 3000 miles of the equator and North Pole have taken thier shots at VY, but no one seems to have a grasp on what makes the Tennessee Titans the laughing stock that they are...a top to bottom bad football team. KC comes in one year and the recievers magically start catching balls that hit them in the hands, something they neglected to do for the past six years, regardless of the starting qb...now that they are back to their former normal pathetic selves, KC is out of a job and the media is drooling over the prospects of getting to beat down VY again.
I DARE you to name one qb that could get behind this line, throw to this garbage and win a game with the #29 defense in the league to keep the opponents score down. YES, VY will not be successful, now lets try to predict something harder, say like what temperature water will freeze at. To say that he's a bust because he can't win in Nashville is retarded, no one else could either...his gifts are his ability to move, Fisher has never developed an offense to play to his strengths, he wants a drop-back passer and won't bend on the issue, therefore, VY will never blossom under him even if the recievers earned thier money...now that that weighty matter has been dealt with, my money is on 0 degree Celsius, who wants some of this action???

The guy has had awful, awful stats. His rookie year he had a 9-17 TD-INT ratio. He also had a 10-6 W-L ratio. I'm not saying that he's a great QB or anything, but you tell me which of those two stats is more important?
