Titans make right move

If I had a team, Vince Young wouldn't be my quartertback.

I like my passers in the pocket. I like them to read the field. I like them to work.

Young does none of that.

But the Tennessee Titans need to play him, which is why the decision to start him this Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars is the right one.

Whether Jeff Fisher likes Young or offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger wants him -- word is it's a no on both counts -- the Titans have to play Young the next 10 weeks. What's the worst thing that can happen: They lose all their games.

They've done that already anyway.

What the Titans will likely find out is that Young is what they thought he was the past two years, a run-around quarterback who can make some plays with his legs and not with his arm.

But his age says he deserves a shot to show what he can do.

I think he'll fail.

And I think the Titans will have Sam Bradford or Jake Locker playing quarterback next season as a rookie.

It will be rebuild time.

But they have to find out if Young has anything at all. The guess here is that he doesn't.

Titans make right move

Took them long enough--probably should have made the move a couple of weeks ago when it was clear that the season was toast. But I don't know that they should necessarily go for a QB first, not when there might be the next Schaub/Cassell looking for a chance to start. What's Kevin Kolb's contract status? Any chance Philadelphia gives their fans what they want and finally cut McNabb loose (which would be a huge mistake, but hey, fans are often dumb)?

Titans make right move

Let him play the year out and if he's good (not likely then the question is answered and the #1 pick can be dealt for defensive help or draft same.

If he can't play (more likely) then trade him to the Redskins, or release him so he can sign with the Redskins. Whatever. Either way, if he can't play Daniel Snyder is just chomping at the but to sign him for BIG MONEY.

Bottom line: Redskins fans (of which I one), get your "hook 'em horns" on because VINCE IS COMING TO TOWN.

Titans make right move

I think Vince Young is a total joke as an NFL quarterback. Great college player at Texas, but is hasnt equated to the NFL. Now is their chance to find this out once and for all.

As much as I think the Titans would be best served drafting a QB in the first round next year, I still think they should go out and get a veteran QB until whoever they take matures. They are a talented team. Too talented to be 0-6. Another player or 2 on defense and they'd be right back to where they were last year. I'd hate to see them waste 2-3 years of Chris Johnson's prime years waiting for a rookie Qb to learn how to play.

Bradford is lanky and has now proved he can't handle taking shots. Last year behind one of the best lines in OU history, he was nice and protected. This year behind a mediocre line, he's been punished and his body has not been up to the task. The only QB who has been a small guy and has gotten through it the last few years is Eli, but that's because he's been behind an amazing line. Locker is very streaky.. he hasn't been surrounded by the best talent and that may be the reason, but I would take a McCoy over both of them. Real tough guy who can take a hit (led his team in rushing last year).

I think Young will be just fine.
