There are reports out Monday night that the Cleveland Browns have fired first-year general manager George Kokinis.

What a disaster this team is right now. They can't score, they can't win, they can't get any love from the hometown fans.
Cleveland, you sure you wanted the NFL back?

Kokinis is a well-respected scout who rarely talks, but the word was he was miserable in Cleveland. The reports today are that he was fired and escorted from the building.

Owner Randy Lerner has a mess on his hands. Lerner said coach Eric Mangini was safe on Monday, but for how long? Lerner is still on the hook for big money for former general manager Phil Savage and coach Romeo Crennel and his staff. Now this? Maybe somebody should escort Lerner from the building.

Oh wait, they can't. Cleveland fans can only hope.

Lerner is slowly following the unsuccessful model shown by Redskins owner Daniel Snyder. Why don't these guys realize that being a fan and listening to fans all the time is not the way to run an organization.

The owners in the NFL who have had the most success are the ones who have most approached everyday operations for exactly what they are, a way to make money and provide a quality product. We can easily site the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts and Philadelphia Eagles in this regard (and Jerry Jones is an exception, he's just filthy loaded).

Mangini may or may not be the guy for the Browns, just as Kokinis might not have been. But what does firing them in the middle of the season do? Create more chaos? In my opinion Lerner should sit back and let the season unfold in its entirety and then re-evaluate after. Micromanaging in the NFL has not proved a solid tactic yet.

im2gud, you are 2wrong on the facts.  Kokinis didn't hire Mangini.  Mangini was hired before Kokinos.  Mangini was responsible for Kokinos getting hired.  It shows you who has the power, and it clues you who was really behind the acquistion of '08 Jets.  But, your critism of the organization as a whole is accurate.  The '09 Browns are going to spend most of their time on their back getting scored on, like the fat girl at the bar.

Steelers and Steelers fans should mind their own business. Anyone can see that organization is headed down hill. Benn wont last to long getting hit that much. your head coach is not that great. your defensive coordinator will retire soon. good luck

I never said... Kokinis hired Mangini......   I never said Kosar is the GM.....  Right now he is serving as Lerner's direct consultant to fix the Browns...   I guess Kokinis was his first move.....

As for Drafting Alex Mack... Okay I can see that, but passing on Malaluga 2x is just stupid....  a 3/4 defense needs linebackers and ours have always sucked!

I still would have taken Mathews then Malaluga....  over Mack and Robiskie......  Still would have got Massaquoi.

Defense wins games....  Yes, it would be nice to have a show like New Orleans or San Diego, but we are in Cleveland where 8 games get played in rain, wind, sleet and snow....  I doubt if Breeze was in Cleveland along with the Saints team that in Late November and December you would see the high scoring pass happy offense that is what we call the Saints today.....

You need to know the situation and try not to put a square peg in a round hole!

this guy sucked, he freaking brought all the jets cast off players to cleveland.  by the way not to be an ass hole or anything, but the browns have only been bad for two years now!! its not like they've sucked they entire time the team has been back in cleveland, they were good before that d bag took the team to baltimore and left the city of cleveland nothing.
