Seahawks got what they deserved

Seattle Seahawks general manager Tim Ruskell resigned Thursday when he saw the handwriting on the wall that he was going to get fired after the season.

The Seahawks got what they deserved by hiring Ruskell.

It should have been Ron Hill's job.

Hill, who had been the GM in Atlanta before the team brought in Rich McKay over him, interviewed for the Seattle position. When he got back from that trip, Hill thought he had a real chance to get the job. But McKay instead recommended Ruskell at the 11th hour, after Ruskell initially said he wasn't interested.

Ruskell interviewed and, thanks in large part to the McKay recommendation, which then held a lot of clout, Ruskell got the job.

Hill was later fired by the Falcons -- at McKay's request -- and has since worked in the league office.

Seattle blew it. Hill is a good football man. It was his job. The Seahawks got what they deserved.

McKay left the Bucs before Sapp left(YOU'RE WRONG THERE). Pretty sure the cap became messed because John Idzik messed some things up because Gruden demanded terrible aging players whom they couldnt pay now, so they paid later(WRONG AGAIN). Garner, Brown, the list goes on and on because they signed so many terrible players you cant even remember. Gruden pushed him out the door. You dont move into a building and tell the architect how to add on to his masterpiece. If you read the AJC, just not Terrence--- whom is banned from Falcons HQ--- you would realize Blank wanted the Vick contract, and it was a great deal until he was arrested for dogfighting, something no one saw coming. ALSO, IF YOU KNEW ANYTHING YOU WOULD KNOW HE IS THE ONE DOING CONTRACTS, SOMETHING DIMITROFF HAS NO HISTORY IN DOING(WRONG AGAIN). He ruined them? All he did was make a mistake in not doing his due diligence into Vicks past. Because everyone can agree that if that whole debacle had not happened, they would be the front runners in the NFC right now. Also, the new owners of the league, which make up a majority, realized McKay was a good ole boy and didnt want him, in line with the old ownership, to run the league bc they would be at a disadvantage. Also, isn't he still Co-Head of the league's competition Committee?

Ownedx2, you homer.

He ruined the Bucs by drafting one of the best defenses all time and won a SuperBowl. He ruined the Falcons by taking them to the NFC Championship Game.
He ruined the Bucs by not being able to manage the cap.  He was responsible for Sapp leaving town.  HE was responsible for the only holdout in Derrick Brooks career.  He left the Bucs in salary cap hell and bailed ship when he started butting heads with Gruden.  And he ruined the Falcons by pulling the same stunts over there.  Signing Mike Vick to a ridiculous contract that locked them into having no room.  Other "great" personnel moves to where HE HAS ABSOLUTELY no input on that side of things any more.  Don't believe me, ask a Falcons fan or check out some of their papers.  You might want to check your facts before claiming to "own" anybody.  Plus, he quickly went from one of the frontrunners to take Tagliabue's place to not even being considered when Goodell got the job.  There's a reason for that.

Dear Pete:

Why are you such an ass? Why isn't that you continue to rip the Seahawks? Why isn't that you continue to print after the fact material in your I told you so column. Seriously Pete you have been wrong more times than right. Do you remember when you predicted that the Redskins would beat the Seahawks in the playoffs...or the Giants would beat the Seahawks in the playoffs. How about the great article you wrote about the hiring of coach Erickson at Arizona State Univeristy a few years ago stating that he was perfect for the job and that ASU would challenge USC for the Pac 10 title. Last time I looked ASU was 4-8 this year. Do you still think Erickson is that great a coach and that ASU is that great a team? Pete you are a hack plain and simple.

this is identical to the 'byron leftwich is a starting caliber qb' argument that comes up every year. you loke ron hill. good, im sure he is a nice guy, that doesnt make him a great GM. The fact that he is working in the league office & not on another team kinda says for itself that he wasnt the most qualified guy around.

and im just curious, what makes someone a 'good football man' exactly?

Check your facts, 'Superstar'

Rich McKay ruined the Raiders how? He ruined the Bucs by drafting one of the best defenses all time and won a SuperBowl. He ruined the Falcons by taking them to the NFC Championship Game. And he ruined the Seahawks because he recommended to them a GM that took them to the SuperBowl. Wow this guy is terrible, get off your high horse.

He is actually the President of the Atlanta Falcons and was rumored to be one lead candidates for the Cleveland Browns post. So if he is blacklisted, please show me where? Obviously your father must have been a intelligent guy because often times sons dont take after their fathers. Thanks(sp?) goodness for that.

Owned.

McKay obviously wanted one of his own guys as GM, and he picked a pretty good one in Dimitroff, it would seem.
McKay didn't hire Dimitroff.  He got demoted and Blank or one of his people hired him.  McKay position as President is nothing more than a figure-head and was only done for him to secure the stadium deal and other non-personnel stuff he was working on.  As a Bucs fan, let me assure you McKay sucks, despite what the Tampa Bay media might tell you.
