Boldin not a true No. 1

The Baltimore Ravens badly wanted a No. 1 receiver. Trading for Anquan Boldin might seem like the answer, but I beg to differ.

Boldin is not a No. 1 receiver. He doesn't run well enough. The Ravens, desperate to get a threat for young quarterback Joe Flacco, traded a third-round pick and a fourth-round pick to the Arizona Cardinals for Boldin and a fifth-round pick.

The Cardinals were willing to part with Boldin in part because they tired of his ways, and the team personnel department thinks Early Doucet is ready to take over as the third receiver behind Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston. They also didn't think Boldin ran by anybody.

Boldin is a tough-guy receiver. He will break tackles after the catch, but if a team plays up on him in press coverage he has trouble getting past them.

The Ravens also gave Boldin a three-year contract extension, which should finally appease Boldin, who has constantly griped about his contract in Arizona the past couple of years.

Trading and paying is always risky. It's even more so with a receiver I don't think is a true No. 1.

Boldin not a true No. 1

Id say more like if he doesnt have blazing speed and a future HOF qb throwing him the ball then prisco wont give him respect... He finally gave Andre johnson his dues this year when he had schuab make the pro bowl. He also jumps all over peytons dick after every game they lose ohh it wasnt his fault it was this and this and this... His input is absolutly crap

Boldin not a true No. 1

Wow is all I can say. Prisco must be inadvertantly watching the CFL on Sundays. Boldin is definitely a #1 WR...a position sorley needed by the Baltimore Ravens. And what did they give up to get him? A #3 and #4 for Boldin and a #5...that is as good an NFL trade as you'll ever see. Great deal for both teams...but more so for the Ravens.

As to the Bidwell cheapness point...he's now lost Antrel Rolle, Karlos Dansby, and Anquan Boldin...and Kurt Warner has retired. The Cardinals are going to be aweful and Bidwell certainly holds the majority of the blame for that. Rolle and Dansby got top money from their new teams...something Bidwell has historically not given to his top talent.

Boldin not a true No. 1

Ralph Wilson is one of the two cheapest if not the cheapest.  He once again went cheap on General Manager who in turn went cheap on Head Coach who in turn is saying the jury is still out on Trent Edwards at QB and they may not take a chance on Sam Bradford or Clausen in the draft (translated a QB with the 9th overall pick will cost a fortune).  It has become evident over the past few seasons that a team without a franchise QB won't get near the playoffs.

Boldin not a true No. 1

Strange that every other person seems to think this is a ggod deal for the Ravens who seem to have obtained a solid WR for a discount price but Harrison92 cany see it. Clearly this kid is blinded by the terrible towel that he has been crying into since his team missed the playoffs last year.

Boldin not a true No. 1

Totally worth the price they paid. The guy was dominant in 2008 regular season. His stats were even better in 2009, he just had fewer TD's. If the guy was healthy all year, his numbers would be even more impressive. The guy is a no brainer #1. He was a #1 before Fitz got there and he was a 1a w/ Fitz there. I just can't contemplate who he is not. Just look at his stat sheet. It's pretty good for a guy who played on the worst franchise, outside of New Orleans and Detroit, before 2008.

Boldin not a true No. 1

As a Bengals fan, I'm worried.
Don't worry at all.  Boldin was only as good as he was because teams had to focus on Fitzgerald.  They were a throw first team with a hall of fame qb.... perfect situation for Boldin but everything changes in Baltimore.

I'm a fan of a team with a wide reciever that has more talent in his pinky then Boldin will ever have.  His name is Calvin Johnson or "megatron" as they call him.  He's bigger, stronger and also one of the fastest players in the NFL.   Two seasons ago he was 3rd in the league on a team with no running game and no secondary recievers.  He was double teamed and triple teamed every play every game.... yet he succeeded... oh, how many games did we win that year??? NONE....

Wide receivers are overrated..... that's why they got him for a 3rd and 4th and even had to throw in a 5th the other way to get the deal done.  There wasn't even ONE team in the NFL that was willing to trade a SECOND ROUNDER for the guy... what does that tell you?????

Do you think every other NFL team is stupid????? C'mon.. not even one team wanted the guy for a 2nd round pick ????  In an uncapped year???? what???

I know why though.. and hopefully now, you do as well.

Boldin not a true No. 1

I think of the replies I read, I agree with this one the most.  An offense is not the individual parts per se but, an exponential product of the parts.  In regards to Boldin, I would have no problem trading what the Ravens traded to improve their WR situation.  Again, we are not talking the best offence or best passing attack in the league so for the Ravens it was a plus for them.  My feelings are that Boldin can loosen part of the field for that monster Ray Rice.

Boldin not a true No. 1

I love these so called 'Experts'.

Boldin is not a No. 1 reciever. He doesn't run well enoughLMFAO what is that supposed to mean?

Boldin is a tough-guy reciever. He will break tackles after the catch, but if a team plays up on him in press coverage he has trouble getting past them.LOL really? have you seen anquan boldin play ball sir? he could probably play RB if he didn't get injured every year.

Prisco ur just mad cuz ur patriots lost out on him. If the patriots had gotten boldin it would have been "Blah Blah Blah weapon for Brady."

Get ready steelers fans cuz your going to wish we never made this move.

Boldin not a true No. 1

Probably a god idea to worry less about the Ravens and more about your QB situation - I say situation because yea - its gonna be one.  Look in the mirror if you want to see an aging defense susceptable to the pass....good news is - Joey Porter is available if you want him back - he'll fit right in there!

Boldin not a true No. 1

Yea - and if Boldin would have been signed by Pete's beloved Colts - it would be lauded by him as the greatest thing since bottled water.  I spent the entire season reading his dribble.  Leave it to Pete to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory....just typical.
