LT to the Jets

LT is going to the New York Jets. LaDainian Tomlinson has accepted a two-year deal, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, which first reported the story.

Big deal.

What, wasn't Curtis Martin able to help?

That's about what the Jets are getting in Tomlinson: A back who can't get through the holes anymore. Martin retired when he knew it was over. Tomlinson plays on. But if the Jets are willing to give him a two-year deal, why shouldn't he?

I would have used a late-round pick on a runner, rather than sign LT. You can find runners all over the draft board, and younger is better at that position.

Tomlinson averaged 3.6 yards per rush last season. If you watched him play, you know it's over for him.

When the skills of backs go, they go fast. There's no in-between.

The Jets will start Shonn Greene. He proved in the playoffs he's capable of handling the load. They will also likely have Leon Washington, who is coming off a broken foot, unless he leaves as a restricted free agent. It will be interesting to see how Tomlinson handles being a spot back, which is what he should be at the most.

Give him five or seven carries. Hope he can handle that. That's all he'll deserve.

But, hey, give the Jets this much: They have added a name people know.

For whatever that's worth.

I guess the Jets didnt realize they already had 2 running backs that are better than LT.

This move was made i think because Thomas Jones didn`t want to backup Green , and Tomlinson is able to live with that ! Now we have to see with Jets offensive line , if LT will be recharged again it`s obvious in San Diego they phased him out ! Jets really need a top WR & DE , if they get that make NO mistake it`s Super Bowl time !!!

hate to break it to you, but any carry a back receives counts in his YPC....they dont dismiss goal line carries in yardage totals......and he was closer ot 3.3 on the year than 4.0!...but Ive loved this guy since our team drafted him and I will be a huge fan of his wherever he goes!

Prisco, you have now proven how unintelligent you are when it comes to football...Norv Turner is a passing guy...he could really care less about the run...as apparent by the Charger's run blocking scheme last year...if you can even call it that...no one could run behind that line ..not even CJ2009 or AP!.....If LT gets the touches behind that line in NY..he can easily put up 1000 yards.....this guy has kept himslef in the best shape of any RB I have ever seen......barring maybe Hershel Walker....if he gets the rock..he'll get a grand!

Hey Pete, in some cases, with you it's actually many cases, it would be best to keep your mouth shut when you think you have a good idea because frankly.... your thoughts are idiotic at best.  You say "Give him five or seven carries.  Hope he can handle that.  That's all he'll deserve."  Really?  That's how you feel?  Have you ever played football in the National Football league?  If you had and you have been half as successful as LT you would never say "That's all he'll deserve."

In San Diego, LT's numbers went down after Marty and Lorenzo Neal left and Norv came into town with his pass happy offense.  In the past two years San Diego's line has been average at best.  I agree that LT is not the same back that he was in 2006 but come on Pete, you are really going to compare LT to Curtis Martin?  You don't deserve to be a beat righter, heck, you don't deserve to write for a local high school sports paper.
