Rams have to take Bradford

Best pro-day workout ever.

That's what some NFL scouts were saying after Sam Bradford threw Monday. The University of Oklahoma quarterback proved that he's over his shoulder troubles and should be the No. 1 overall pick in next month's draft.

But the pro-day workout shouldn't be the reason the St. Louis Rams take him first overall.

What should be is that he's an accurate, big, strong passer who understands the passing game.

Watch his tape.

He's precision-sharp and reads the field.

If Tim Tebow could read the field half as well as Bradford does, he'd be a sure-fire first-round pick -- even in my book.

One personnel director told me Bradford is the most-accurate passer to come into the draft in the past 10 years. At the scouting combine in February, some were debating whether he should be the top pick.

I never did. There was no debate. Quarterbacks win Super Bowls. Not defensive tackles.

What Bradford did Monday was prove that his surgically repaired shoulder isn't an issue.

What he proved on the playing field is that he will be a great NFL passer. Yes, I said great.

What

The rams have been building their lines for the past 5 years Alex Barron OT, Tye Hill CB (is the exception), Carriker DT, Long DE and Jason Smith OT.  They have invested heavily into the lines and are still qb-less and now that they have the opportunity to draft a solid qb and the money has been invested into the lines ppl still want a DT which is not nearly as important when it comes to positional value.  You ppl are crazy.  It's gotta be Bradford and it will be Bradford.  How were those DT's in the Super Bowl, few ppl could name the starting 4 DT's in the game but both teams had elite qb's, you learn from the best.  Get a clue

Rams have to take Bradford

Cmon guy...I'm not hating.  I'm well aware that OU has a good # of people that will be picked in the 1st rd.  My point is that they have had a lot of good teams and a lot of draft choices the past 10 years that haven't panned out.  The comparison to Heupel was that they were both Heisman winning QBs.

Rams have to take Bradford

I disagree.  Bradford is not one of the top quarterbacks in the past 10 years.  He's easily the best in this draft, which is why the scouts are trying to convince themselves that he's the next Peyton Manning, but look at the tape and he's not nearly as good as people are trying to make him sound, plus he's injury prone already.

If the Rams are smart, they'll take the best player in the draft that's an area of need for them, namely Ndamakung Suh.  Then either sign a free agent quarterback or look to the later rounds.  There are MUCH better quarterbacks coming out next year.

Sooners aren't usually good pros

WIth the exception of Adrian Peterson and Tommie Harris (but not lately), how many Oklahoma players have found stardom in the NFL over the past 10 years?  None.  Bradford MIGHT be a good pro but he could also be Josh Heupel.  The Rams should trade down and grab Okung and then take McCoy in the 2nd round.

Rams have to take Bradford

I love that Prisco thinks that what he says is relevant. This is the same guy that picks games at about a 50% pace during the regular season. The same guy that said Brett Favre was a waste of the Vikings time. Oh Pete, I hanging on your every word. Did you say great? Oh I'll go out and get his jersey on draft day then since YOU said so. Please Pete, I could do your job better after a traumatic head injury. You probably said the same thing about Ryan Leaf.
