Derek Anderson is not the answer

I think Arizona Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt is one of the best coaches in the NFL.

I don't agree with his quarterback decision.

I told him as much last week when I saw him Nashville, for whatever that's worth, which is nothing.

Derek Anderson isn't a starting quarterback in my mind. He doesn't see the field well enough. That alone should be reason enough to start Matt Leinart. Anderson is a wild thrower. You never know where it's going. Yes, Leinart checks it down too much, but at least he knows where to go with the football.

The Cardinals are peddling Leinart around the league in a potential trade. It's not that I think Leinart is the next great thing. It's just that I think he sees the field better than Anderson, and gives the Cardinals a better chance to win.

I thought the Cardinals were an easy pick in the NFC West. They are talented and they have the best coach in Whisenhunt.

Now, I'm not so sure.

This is a quarterback league. Uncertainty at that spot has ruined many a talented team and could do the same to the Cardinals.

I agree!!!!When Baltimore gets rid of you before they draft Flacco and then the browns drop you something isnt right. For every wow pass that DA makes he will make two stupid ones and cost his team the game.

Actually that was Kurt Warner who nearly ended Boldin's career...Not Leinart. Gets the facts right.

And the facts are Derek Anderson completed 44% of his passes last year...and the fact is.....this is a personality conflict not a talent conflict. Some of the Cards players do not like Matt and Coach Whiz is basically acting because of that.

Trust me... Not liking your teammate(s) will cause you not to block as hard, run as hard, trust on both ends. Ive played sports up to the college level and if you don't like your teammate(s) it CAN trickle on the field if the dislike is of someone in a leadership position.

And you fell qualified to give him QB advice because?
This has been one of the more hotly debated topics. Neither one is the answer. Leinart has shown he can't lead a kindergarten class. It was his job to lose and he did. Anderson is a one shot wonder, the Browns' version of Tommy Maddox. When you're as successful a coach as Whisenhut and he benches Leinart there's probably a damn good reason. Maybe he knows he's stuck and is playing for a draft choice or he's trying to light a fire under Leinart instead of paying him millions to carry a clipboard.

Derek Anderson is not the answer

As poor an NFL quarterback Matt Leinart may be, I hardly think it is fair to lump him in with JaMarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf. Those guys are in a whole different category of douchey busts.

Derek Anderson is not the answer

How badly did Ken Whisenhunt want to drop Prisco when he gave him QB Advice for the season?

Did Prisco ever play organized football? You go with the guy the team has confidence in. Skills mean little if your teammates don't believe in you.

Derek Anderson is not the answer

I adgree to a point with you Prisco on Anderson but Leinart isn't close to the answer either. Leinart fails to see the whole field as well and has a horrible tendency to take one quick look at his number one option and then checks it down. Hence, the ridiculous completion percentage in the preseason.

I also suspect that it may be Fitz who has the problems with Leinart because of his hesitations. Let's not forget, its been suggested that Leinart's indecision caused him to throw late to Fitz and lead him in to the hit that caused his injury. Whether you agree or not, you have to realize that in five years now, Leinart has shown zero ability to move the ball.

In the halftime interview he gave after he started the second preseason game, he almost seemed cavalier about his inability to get a first down. Couple that with him yelling at the receiver to "find the ball" on his poor downfield pass that landed five yards behind him, Leinart shows no leadership or ability.......Time to cut the losses if you just don't see the ability like with Russell and Leaf...

Checking down.  Between the last game of last year and the first preseason game of this year Leinart nearly ruined the careers of Boldin and Fitzgerald due to his inability to see the field.  Prisco, checking down too much means you can't see the safeties.  If the wheels come off Whiz's last three years will buy him the ability to put Max Hall or John Skelton in mid year, and who knows maybe we end up with the kid from UW in next years draft.
