Mike Vick? Really?

Posted on: September 21, 2010 6:07 pm

Mike Vick is the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Is Andy Reid really giving up on Kevin Kolb that quickly? Vick has played well in his two appearances, but you don't trade away Donovan McNabb with the idea of making Kolb your long-term solution and then give up on it after one half of football.

You know what you have in Vick: A wonderfully athletic player that can do amazing things with his feet but is limited with his ability to be a quality passer.

Vick has never been a good passer. This is a passing league -- more even than when he was the starter in Atlanta.

Kolb suffered a concussion in the opening loss to the Green Bay Packers. Vick came in and played well and then played well in a start last week at Detroit. But the Lions aren't good on defense. Then again, neither are the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Eagles opponent this week.

Teams will say they hate preparing for Vick because of his improvisational skills. But talking to coaches over the years, that is offset by the fact that he doesn't throw it as well.

I guess the Eagles decided in a half that Kolb isn't their answer.

Somewhere Donovan McNabb has to be chuckling.

The Eagles have really botched their quarterback situation.

Get ready, Philly. The Single Wing is your new offense.

Mike Vick? Really?

I agree with you but doesnt this make the Donovan Mcnabb trade look absolutely dumb? I mean Eagles fans say they had to move on because Donovans not accurate and cant win the big game so you gave him up now for Vick whos completion % is worse and he cant win a big game so they gave up Donovan Mcnabb for Donovan Mcnabb with a worse completion %.

No way does this move have anything to do with Vick's abilities.  Isn't it possible that Kolb is having some lingering effects from the concussion?

Besides, even if they do go with Vick for the rest of the season, what will they do for the future?

Vick is only signed for this year.  His contract has no options.

Are the Eagles going to suddenly revert back to Kolb in 2011?  I think not...

Mike Vick? Really?

You cant be serious! This is a passing league, thats why the Eagles have installed a pass first mentality in Vick, and he's be great. "McNabb chuckling"? Are you really serious right now? "Chuckling" over what?? The fact that they are 1-1? The fact Kolb is back on the bench? The fact that they have an electric QB who gives them a great chance to win? "Botched their quarterback situation"? How? 2 games in? You got Vick looking awsome, and Kolb getting hurt, thats botched to you?? Im "chuckling" at your ignorance, AND IM A GIANTS FAN LOL.

Hey Pete,

If this is a passing league as you claim, riddle me this; why is it that the Texans were able to beat the Colts by double digits, even though Peyton Manning threw for over 400 yards, and Matt Schaub barely threw over 100?

Vick gives the eagles a better chance to win than Kolb, plain and simple
