Mike Vick? Really?

Posted on: September 21, 2010 6:07 pm

Mike Vick is the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Is Andy Reid really giving up on Kevin Kolb that quickly? Vick has played well in his two appearances, but you don't trade away Donovan McNabb with the idea of making Kolb your long-term solution and then give up on it after one half of football.

You know what you have in Vick: A wonderfully athletic player that can do amazing things with his feet but is limited with his ability to be a quality passer.

Vick has never been a good passer. This is a passing league -- more even than when he was the starter in Atlanta.

Kolb suffered a concussion in the opening loss to the Green Bay Packers. Vick came in and played well and then played well in a start last week at Detroit. But the Lions aren't good on defense. Then again, neither are the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Eagles opponent this week.

Teams will say they hate preparing for Vick because of his improvisational skills. But talking to coaches over the years, that is offset by the fact that he doesn't throw it as well.

I guess the Eagles decided in a half that Kolb isn't their answer.

Somewhere Donovan McNabb has to be chuckling.

The Eagles have really botched their quarterback situation.

Get ready, Philly. The Single Wing is your new offense.

Mike Vick? Really? Prisco you get Paid? Really?

Pete, most blind mice can tell that Vick has been stupendous running the Eagles version of the west coast offense over the last 6 quarters. Whether the Lions are solid or not still doesn't address the fact that Vick moved the ball and team well against a tough Packers defense that had stymied Kolb.

Kolb may or may not be an all-pro qb -- but Vick is on fire right now. He's auditioning for the league now -- in desperate need to prove that at age 30 he has matured into a winning qb.

You on the other hand, are still one of the worst football columnists in the game.

Mike Vick? Really?

For the record, I am not a Vick fan per se (I happen to be a dog lover). But I color myself an objective person, and there is no way--based upon these two games and in light of Kolb's concussion--that I WOULDN'T start Vick this weekend.  I like dogs too, I own one... he's actually laying down about 6 feet away from me right now and would knock somebody out if they tried to hurt him.  But... here's the thing though.  I don't like drunk drivers. I don't like people that do hard drugs and I'm not a big fan of people that do drugs at all.  I'm also don't like people that drink excessively and beat their wives or get into bar fights and hurt people.  I don't like people ( Big Ben) that use their power and popularity to wow girls and take advantage of them.....  that all being said, all major sports have plenty of all of the above and if we have no choice but to follow our favourite teams.  We don't, can't and should never justify what they have done if it's wrong but what can we do?

Pete Prisco is WRONG about EVERYTHING!  His 1st week picks- Raiders over TN, Buffalo over Miami-- says it all.  What a moron!

Mike Vick? Really?

Conspiracy theory - the plan was to get Vick in all the time.  That's why in week 1 they coached the game that way.  Kolb's Concussion only expidiated things.  The plan was to have Vick gradually take away playing time.  KOlb or no other QB could have gotten into a rhythm the way that first game was being coached.  THey wanted Vick all the time.  This way they kinda skirt the PETA backlash, and create an excitement Philly Fans and for that matter any Fan would crave.

Mike Vick? Really?

Lol, the ironic thing is that Kolb was favored for the starting job after McNabb went down with an injury to play 2 good games with the Eagles.

Karma's a b*tch.

Mike Vick? Really?

ABSOLUTELY!!!! Why are the rest of you be as stupid as Arthur Blank was... Most whites want Vick to play like they do. He's not like you.

In my opinion, a 300 yard pocket passer with -12 yards rushing vs a 200 yard scrambling passer with 80 yards rushing is about as equal as you can get.

Mike Vick was a better QB 4 years ago that Kolb is now and is a much better QB now than Kolb is.

Andy Reid and the Eagles management isn't stupid. Thats been the plan since Vick played so well but took the stance to stick with kOLB to minimize the embrassment to Kolb.

Go MV7, continue to prove the haters wrong.

Mike Vick? Really?

A lot of these post are absolutely ridiculous! This is not a long-term decision as Kolb is the QB of the future. This is about what the Eagles need right now. With a banged up offensive line Vick is the only answer. Kolb would be injured with another concussion behind this line. If anything they are doing the guy a favor. Plus this is a win first league. Vick nearly brought them back from a 17 point deficit in the first game and then won the second game behind nifty footwork and fairly accurate passing (63.8%). There is no way Reid can justify starting Kolb over Vick to the Eagles fans right now. As usual Prisco gets it wrong!!!

Mike Vick? Really?

I bet Prisco drafted Kolb as his starting QB in fantasy football...and then was unable to get Vick off the waiver wire.  Haha.

Mike Vick? Really?

I can't believe people actually compare Vick to McNabb.  Vick has won very little in his career; a one dimensional player before prison.  He looks good the first two games.  It's only 2 games guys against inferior defenses.  Let's wait until midseason before we crown Vick as an elite QB.  He should at least win a couple playoff games first right?  Most QBs have to win playoff games in consecutive seasons or get to the SuperBowl before they are considered elite.  Vick does it in 2 games?  LOL.

Alot of teams and players come out of the gate hot only to level out.  Since prison, we have not seen what Vick is capable of over an entire season.  I think he is a gimmick player personally, but I could be wrong.

To whoever said Vick is the most unique player in NFL history, you are crazy man.  Stop drinking the koolaide after week 2.
