NEW ORLEANS --  New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick basically stuck out his middle finger to the other 31 coaches in the NFL Tuesday.

How else can you explain his not attending a supposedly mandatory media breakfast here at the NFL league meetings?

The other 31 coaches all showed up, some probably a bit reluctantly, but not Belichick.

And word is the league will do nothing about it.

He's bigger than the game. Didn't you know? There is no arguing that Belichick is a great coach. But does that mean he gets to adhere to his own rules?

I can tell you this: Several coaches were more than aware that he wasn't there and weren't thrilled that they had to be and he wasn't there.

I just hope one of them has the guts to call him out on it. Rib him about it.

"So your time is more valuable than ours?" they should say.

Why wouldn't you? He's just a peer, even if he sometimes acts like he isn't.

This is just another way of Belichick showing his arrogance. It's like when he pushed that photographer a couple of years ago. Or when he got caught in Spygate.

Rules are for fools?

Too bad the biggest fool Tuesday was the guy who doesn't follow them.

Dunbar, you should change your name to Major D i c khead.  Still mad about that 33-14 ass-whipping that the Ravens handed the Pats in the playoffs a couple of years back?

I used to sit and shake my head at all the bozos who sit and lambaste the CBS sports writers for being idiots. My apologies to you all. I am the bozo for ever doubting you. Prisco and Freeman have now conditioned me Pavlovian style. Every time I see their by-line I immediately know "IDIOT at WORK". Then if I manage to read more than 3 sentences without rolling my eyes I am pleasantly surprised. Needless to say it's been a long time since I have been surprised.

Prisco The Ignorant

The NFL merely asks the coaches to attend. The league will do nothing about it because it is not mandatory. This is merely your way of trying to pull a story out of thin air. He didn't break a rule. He missed breakfast. Maybe your time would be better spent getting your facts straight.

haha how does missing a meeting make him arrogant?  Maybe he had a legitimate reason for missing it?  You can't just make a story out of nothing like this.
word. Prisco is just mad that he didn't get another chance to needle Belichick over Spygate in person, or maybe he's only brave enough to attack the man when he isn't around

Wait... the story is the Belichick missed a breakfast in New Orleans to indulge the media during a lockout when there is no football?

Prisco, you wrote 600 angry words on this and even brought up Spygate?  That's an accomplishment by itself.

Seems to me the coaches are really just JEALOUS that Bill had the balls not to show up at the breakfast. It was however "VOLUNTARY". Which was never mentioned in your article. in fact you attempted to make it seem MANDATORY. nice try.
Bill had better things to do than sit around with Media talking about things he can't talk about (Free Agents, Merriwether, Lockout, Mankins).
He's probably at LSU watching potential Patriots. :)
Find something else to write about to entice Football fans, rather than attempting to drag one of the best coaches in NFL history through the mud for no reason other than he'd rather hit some Beignets and Coffee on his route to whichever football field is first on his list.
