Jets go crazy for Holmes

Are the New York Jets crazy?

They give Santonio Holmes, a receiver who has had more than 55 catches just once in his career, is one failed drug test away from a possible year-long suspension by the league, a contract that will pay him $50 million with $24 million in guaranteed money.

That $24 million, if true, is the most ever for a receiver. What?

This guy hasn't finished in the top-10 in catches in a season yet in his career. The Steelers were so turned off by him that they traded him for a fifth-round pick last summer.  The Steelers tired of his off-field issues, one of which led to a four-game suspension to start the 2010 season with the Jets.

Holmes is a nice player. And he has speed. Plus, Mark Sanchez loves him. But isn't that a lot of money for a risky player, who you wouldn't even consider a top-10 receiver in the NFL?

I can't imagine there was a great market for him -- which is why I always felt he would go back to the Jets --because of all the baggage. So somebody please explain the money to me.

Last time I checked, this wasn't Al Toon or Don Maynard we are talking about.

Check out how the deal was structured dude. Plenty of cap space for other big time players to come here or stay here. Tone was a must and Mike T pulled another great deal off.

Prisco, SHUT UP

Never have I seen a hater of all things for one team as you hate the Jets.  I'm not sure, but as it is at 4:15 pm on Wednesday 7/27.  The Jets have spent money, but are also supposedly one second thought away from signing the top two free agents this year.

Santonio Holmes is a needed weapon and a consistent homerun threat for a QB who needs a pick me up for the first 45 minutes of any game.  He has the ability to take a 4 yard slant to the house on any play.

Your hatred of the Jets makes me sick, they're not the same-old Jets or Just End The Season anymore, so really Just End This Stupidity.

These contracts are insanely inflated.  and when we do sign Nnamdi, I will give you the ticket I buy in the seat next to me for the AFC Championship just so that I can see the look on your face.

Why $24 million in guaranteed money?  Come on, Pete.  The price of ganja has gone way up the last couple of years.  He is just looking for financial and ganja security.  That's all.

Jets give Holmes Good Deal

Were you watching last year??  Are you aware of how many games Santonio won with late heroics??  Off the top of my head, I can say the Jets won the Detroit, Cleveland and Houston games in the final seconds with a large play from Santonio.  He also came up huge in beating the Patroits in the playoffs.  Let's not forget that Santonio missed 4 games last year or his #s would have been even better and he would have even more game-winning plays.  This is a great deal for the Jets.

Jets go crazy for Holmes

Mark Sanchez had the 2nd WORST completion percentage in the NFL last season. I have a hard time believing that a wr gets the largest reciever guarantee contract ever partly due to the 28th rated qb "likes throwing to him"? What? Get real, Holmes is good, but not top 10 and Sanchez is not top 25! The J-E-T-S Jets, jets, jets will never win anything with that waste basket under center!

Jets melt down? I remember the Jets ending NE's season IN foxboro last year.  Can you imagine that?  Brady and the "genius" Bill Belichick losing to the Jets at home in the playoffs!!!???

Steelers seem to be ok with big bens off the field activities, you fit Holmes in as a bad guy to fit your story. When your qb is that drunk mess, albeit very good on the field, you lose the right to stand on a soap box about other players problems. Bunch of hypocrites
