Real message would be: Can't play

It's absurd to think Patriots coach Bill Belichick would sign a player for the sole reason of cutting him to send a message to his team.

That's what one team executive told National Football Post's Dan Pompei. I've known Dan a long time and respect him as a football writer, but even he has to realize that Belichick makes moves for one reason and one reason only: How well do you play?

The implication that Belichick would cut Albert Haynesworth or Chad Ochocinco or both to send a message to his players is foolish.

If Haynesworth or Ochocinco can help the team, they stay. If they can't, they go.

When Randy Moss was helping the Patriots, he stayed. When he wasn't, he went. His attitude problems weren't a big deal when he was stretching the field. When he stopped doing so, he was sent packing.

Belichick is beyond using gimmicks to send messages to his players. He's earned far more respect than that.

So if either of the veteran players is let go, it's not for anything other than football reasons.

Belichick, like all the other coaches in the league, would play an ax-murderer as long that man showed up, worked and contributed -- and stayed out of jail.

Last time I checked, Ochocinco and Haynesworth weren't one of those.

In Washington...   Haynesworth was worse than an ax-murderer...  He rejected us as fans for reasons known only to him.. He was a thief of our hearts and hopes...  a WMD gone selfish and inert..  The worst behavior ever by a (football player???)

Love the comment here Mauxdeverite. i can't stand the fact that they make R.Lewis out to be some kind of demigod, after what he has done.

This is a first for me--I actually agree with Prisco here.  His commentary here was on target--I just wish more of his articles were well done.

HOLY ONION SKIN Boothman!

The point I made in the original post was this and simply this : It Sickens Me to Agree With Prisco.  That was it.    Did I toss in a dig on Beli-cheat?  YEP.  Guilty as charged.   It also was a slim fraction of my Original post.   Then DynastyOPats got his panties all in a bunch.  He (and now you) completely ignored my disgust in agreeing with Prisco.   Agreeing that BB would never hire guys just to fire them.  A point neither of you bothered to pick up on Instead, the two of you whine and tell me to "grow up".

Okay so I "grow up" and bring in examples of Head Coaches with Multiple SuperBowl Rings and how they didn't resort to what Belicheck did. (there you see, I din't say Beli----)

Now you get all defensive, and talk about how it was Belicheck as an assistant that was the reason the Giants won when they did.   Even if I give you the benefit of that ridiculous comment, it still fails to explain Walsh; Noll; Shula; Johnson and Landry.

Peace :)

yo - Jetssteve... you do realize bill bellicheck was the defensive coordinater of "kind of like Parcells" giants that won it twice in the 80's right?

You guys need to get over a video filming game that wasn't even illegal to do... 7 years ago!!  it was only illegal because of WHERE he was filming.... anyways, its irrelevant today so i dont get the hate. its not productive and is pointless. grow up.

"When you say things like Beli-Cheat, you sound like a jealous child. Grow up dude."

The above gem is from the DynastyOPats.  To comment directly on that aspect:
Jealous that the Pats won those Super Bowls.  Sure.
Jealous that they cheated to do it.  No not really.

Is Beli-cheat a great coach? Well...Let's just say he is a VERY GOOD COACH.  If he was great he wouldn't have had to cheat with secret tapings to beat opponents.  He would've won it just by ...ummm...COACHING.

Kind of like Parcells
Kind of like Noll
Kind of like Shula
Kind of like Landry
Kind of like Walsh
Kind of like Jimmy Johnson

My main point was getting sick to my stomach that I greed with Prisco.

Prisco writes, "...Belichick, like all the other coaches in the league, would play an ax-murderer as long that man showed up, worked and contributed -- and stayed out of jail." Pete is correct. Murder, whether human or animal, doesn't preclude anyone from playing in the NFL Case in point....Ray Lewis and Michael Vick.

DynastyofDeception...I mean the Patsies fan that is all over this thread whining and crying while calling other people stating fact children needs to grow up and man up a bit. It is not slander to state the Patriots, and specifically Bill Belichik were caught cheating. It happened. They were found to have cheated for 7 seasons. The seasons in which they enjoyed their most success. This is documented fact. It is the reality. No amount of whining and crying, sniveling and moaning will ever change it. They will be forever the team that cheated. Grow up. You aren't on the team. You aren't part of the team. You are just a child throwing a tantrum because people remember the truth. There has never been a Patriots dynasty. Only a period of cheating. Fact.

For once, I actually agree with you, Prisco. CBS should be ashamed for even posting this and whoever this Pompei dipsh*t is, he should lose his credentials. National Football Post? WTF is that? profootballtalk
