Make Pryor a tight end

Terrelle Pryor, tight end.

That's what I would do with him if he was on my roster. Pryor, who was taken in the third round of Monday's supplemental draft by the Oakland Raiders, isn't accurate enough to be a quarterback. He isn't sudden enough to be a receiver.

But he's big enough and fast enough to be a receiving tight end, a Dallas Clark-type of tight end. Pryor was timed under 4.4 in the 40-yard dash at his pro day the Saturday. That's plenty of speed for a 6-5, 235-pound tight end. I think it's straight-line speed. That means he has no real wiggle, which you need to be a receiver. So the Raiders should make him a tight end who can split out and cause matchup problems. Get creative with him.

The NFL has evolved the tight-end position. You need one to block and one to catch the football. Few of them can do both. So make Pryor a receiving tight end, especially since he's said he is willing to play another position. Pryor is too raw and too sporadic to be an NFL quarterback. And he doesn't drive the football when he throws. So use him as a flex tight end. I believe it's his only hope to win a roster spot and stay in the league. Either that, or learn what the dollar is worth in Canada.

Make Pryor a tight end

Pete is showing his ignorance of all things Western Pennsylvanian, after earlier bashing Troy for being over rated for being injured he now claims that Pryor has no moves. He clearly never saw this ignorantly vilified young man play basketball, he is fast and quick. Come on Pete, if you don't want to get the facts then right another story about how great Tom Brady is.

This tool should be in prison for destroying the OSU program. There he'd make a great wide receiver.

Make Pryor a tight end

Make him a TE??? A 235 lb TE?? Are you Drunk? A 300 lb DE, or 250 lb linebacker would pick up that thug, and throw him at the QB. Come on prisco, stop that drinking, and or drugs before going into work...

Make Pryor a tight end

i seriously doubt pryor would want to block so why put him at a position where he would have to pretty often?  he's a diva, wide out would make more sense

I enjoyed the Poll on the future of Pryor, but wish there had been more choices...maybe you should at the minimium include BUST by year 3 as a choice....or personally I'd like to have seen ..a choice for , He'll be in prison.

WR capability

"Pryor was timed under 4.4 in the 40-yard dash at his pro day the Saturday. That's plenty of speed for a 6-5, 235-pound tight end. I think it's straight-line speed. That means he has no real wiggle, which you need to be a receiver

Last I heard, 40 yd dash is run on a straight path.  THe fact that he runs fast on a straight path doesn't mean he has no moves, it just means that you don't see them when he (or anyone else) is running a 0 yd dash.  Go look at his open field scrambling in the highlight reels.  You'll see lots of defenders looking for their shoes after the play.

Don't get me wrong - if he has soft hands and can be taught to block, then he could be a force at TE (and a value pick as well), but I would give hima couple of years to see if he can develop into a polished QB first

Make Pryor a tight end?

I have to say to Ngttrain that there are far more writers who can play than players who can write. Prisco's hired to drive reads and comments prove reads so you have helped him make his case for columnist. There are some gifted coaches who did not play so perhaps there are some gifted writers who did not play as well. (That does not mean I disagree with you about Pryor - see below.)

The question of Pryor becoming a tight end is interesting to me. Dallas Clark does not have to block? Jason Witten sure blocks as well as catches. But what makes Witten an All-Pro is his intelligence and connection to his quarterbacks. He simply knows how to play. Converting Pryor from QB to TE might be problematical as his instincts on routes might have to be developed. Of course, the same is true for quarterback. Either way he is, by all accounts, a gifted athlete. Third round is pretty high for an athlete. So my bet is the Raiders use him at quarterback, giving him this year to develop.

After two years as a quarterback understudy perhaps he can prove himself at that position and if not, then consider him for another position. In any event the Raiders have a new toy.

Make Pryor a tight end

TP will be a QB.  He's just as good as Cam Newton.  People like Prisco who have never played a sport need to stop talking about sports.  Arm strength in the NFL is OVERRATED!!!  In fact if you rate the top qb's you'll see the top 3-4 all have average arms and I guess you could say Tom brady has a gun but he doesn't.  Brees and Kyle orton and Matt Ryan...all average arms and studs.  Jay Cutler, Jamracus Russell and daunte culpepper.....all strong arms and garbage!!  yes Bears fans and Vanderbilt fans Jay Cutlers is garbo, dude can throw a fade, whoop de doo!!!!!!  So to say that TP will never be a QB is simply stupid.  If one thinks that Cam newton will be successful then you will think TP will be.  They are the same player.  AND TP is more ready to play NFL ball than Cam and his 2 plays - playbook they ran at auburn with that high school offense.  Wake up people and "act like you know".  Miek Vick was never going to be a good QB until last year.....AND now everyone is jocking him.  It's amazing how people don't use logic much in everyday life.  Oh yea Matthew Stafford has a gun too but how has that worked out for him?  If he were 6'5, 240 and could run a 4.3, he wouldn't get hurt.  So yes TP will be playing QB.....but he said the right things...""I'll play where ever the want me to play"......Not like Pat White!!!!!
