Brees taking care of Brees

They will call Drew Brees selfish.

He's thinking about himself -- and just himself.

How dare he not take a deal that would make him the highest-paid player in the NFL and instead force the Saints to use the franchise tag on him to keep him off the market?

Here's what I say to that: Brees has to do what he feels is best for himself. There are a lot of people out there who will say Brees should have signed a deal with the Saints to help the team get some cap relief to sign Carl Nicks and Marques Colston before free agency.

That's not his duty. He serves himself. He's an independent contractor. If he and his agent don't like the deal the Saints have offered, they don't take it.

The other part is on the team. They need to make it work.

Having said all that, let's get off this Brees-is-the-savior of New Orleans talk while we're at it. If this negotiation has taught us anything, it's that all players -- no matter what image they portray -- are in it for themselves.

Never forget that.

But don't get mad at Brees. He's looking out for No. 9 -- or in this case, as it always is, No. 1.

Brees might as well commit suicide like his mother, cause he is a walking dead man if he stays in NO. With or without a bounty every defensive player is going to be looking to get even with the Taints

For those thinking Brees is thinking of no1 but himself look no further than Peyton Manning, what happens if Brees suffers a career threatening injury next season?

Prisco is a selfish buffoon, just like Brees, who is a moron for spreading the virtue of greed.

Remember Peyton signed that contract and never played a down for Indy last season.  Who was the greater in supplying and signing that deal?  It defitinitly is the Colts.  Players are only as good as they are currently are playing, that is how fans see it and that is how businesses see it.

Brees is a fool for not signing last year.  He is not Brady, or Peyton.  Brees just chucks it like Marino.  I do not see N.O. every going to the super bowl again. So why pay him so much.  Any player can be replace.  Any.

The most money ever offered and the most money guaranteed, in the NFL, are two different things. Just ask Peyton Manning who kept restructuring his deal to keep players and now he is going to get stuck for $28 million that he defered for the good of the team. They should all get what they can get because the owners will stick it to them at the first sign of age.
There is no longer any loyalty in the NFL from either side it is open season and it is going to be the demise of the game. The owners actually want the big name players to change teams so they can sell more jersey's. You would be shocked if you knew how much side money Brett Favre was paid by the NFL to come back and play for the Jets and Vikings. I guarantee it dwarfed what he was paid by the teams he was playing for.

Chef ray. .. Brees broke the record as did tom brady who finished less than a hundred yards behind him , but the fact is it is easier now to hit those records than it was for Marino back in the day ..
