Red Wings Collapse

Who wants to be the conference's #1 seed?  Anyone, anyone at all.  The recent play of both the Detoit Red Wings and the San Jose Sharks say, "Nah, you go ahead and take the top spot. "

At this point, I don't care; really.  The playoffs are approaching - quickly .  Sure there are some banged up bodies; it's March (of course there is!)  and the defensive lapses we have seen thus far are a reason for concern.

The offense looks good -Great at times,  27% on the power play is hard to stop, but how many goals are we going to allow?  They come from every possible way:  Lack of tenacity, poor decisions with  the puck, poor decisions without the puck, goaltending, inopertune penalties. . . You name it.

The last two Saturday games the Wings just didn't show up.  Tonight against Calgary they just plain let up.  This can't happen over and over or it's going to be a very short post season.

Yell Babs, Fix this thing, now!

Great game vs. Jackets. Ozzie was solid. Offence was solid. D looked pretty good. A little sloppy at first. Overall a great effort. Much improved over the previous few games. Whatever Babs did, he did it right.

After 2 periods against the St Louis Blues so far and the Wings are still way too inconsistent.  An awesome  3 goal flurry on the second, but still lackadaisacal in the defensive zone.  Goaltender switch for the Blues as the third period begins.

Yeah the wings should know better than anyone that defense/goaltending wins championships. You can score all night and day but if you cant stop someone when it counts its all for naught. They will get their act together im sure. If not then we will have a long offseason with some tough choices to make. The west is very tough. Should be an interesting april.

Don't get me wrong, Mike Babcock will straighten things out for the Red Wings.  But for now it is gut wrenching to see a third period like last night against the Calgary Flames.

As you were saying about the shootout; I would have went with Franzen as well -soft hands and langer stick for the deke against Mikka Kiprusoff.

I hope we have a good weekend with the division foes because I am amped for the Philadelphia Flyers on St Patty's Day.

It is simple. I have been in that situation many times through my career. Thinking the game is yours and boom next thing you know you are down a goal with 2 left in the game. Good job by Cleary though to ge tthat game tied up again. I think Franzen should have shot last instead of Hudler. I love Hudler dont get me wrong, but Franzen I think would have been a better choice.
