Time was right to fire Manginiyou might want to go back and look at the Jets history over the past 10 years before you say they were garbage up until this year. They made the playoffs in '06, '04, '02 where they beat the Colts 41-0, '01, and 1998 where they lost the AFC championship game to eventual champs Denver. They also had 3 or 4 9-7 seasons mixed in where they did not make the playoffs, including this year. Infact, they have only had 2 sub .500 seasons in the past 10 years ('07 and '05) |

Time was right to fire ManginiI agree with the firing of Mangini. I think it was the right chose. After you are 8-3 with just 5 games left, all of which I believe should have been won, "(I GUESS IT WAS THAT WEST COAST COLLAPSE)" his head should be on the chopping block!!! As JET Farre I am undecided. I do not think that the last 5 games were all totally his falut for all the losses. The Seattle game I would have gone for the 4th and 1, and kicked the field goal after the 5 yard penalty was added on. (He made it with an extra 15 yards the first try; it was a no brainer)!!! I sometimes wonder what Pennington did over the summer. He never looked that good in NEW YORK. Was it in the WATER he was drinking???? The big question is who will be the new coach, and will Jet Farre be back, or retire again and then unretire and play for another team!!!! Only time will tell. One truely dissatisfied JET FAN!!!

Time was right to fire ManginiFinally someone who knows what the hell their talking about!!! JETS had the horses to run the damn ball, Thomas Jones had a huge season......and the offensive line was built to run behind. Leon Washington also was phenominal when used appropriately, but not used nearly enough. The Jets seemed to go away from that theory down the stretch, Mangini succombed to the Favre notion of throwing the ball, no matter what the situation called for. Thomas Jones and the Jets running game was totally under-utilized in the last 5 games. I hope we get Cowher or Spagnoula in there to shore up our lame 3-4 defense and allow the offense to run smash-mouth football, until we at least get a wide receiver that can stretch out the defense with blazing speed. We have to many possession type receivers......

Time was right to fire ManginiIt is about time.... I want a coach with a set of balls. A coach who will not hesitate to be in the players face and tell them to get their s**t straight. I grew tired of watching Mangini standing there looking like nothing was wrong. As for Brett, look he did what he could for a 39-40 year old. It is what it is.... Brett your a Fall of Famer in my books and thanks for the 8-3 but after that no comment. I sit hear reading how poor of a decision on Mangini was for signing off Chad</st1: |

Time was right to fire ManginiThank you. It's about time someone said something intelligent here. Blame all you want of Favre, but I watched the games this year and his receivers sucked. Coles was half ass running around out there not putting out enough effort. Don't forget the several of his INT's were from his recievers not catching the ball when he hits them in the hands. I still don't know why the didn't put the rookie Clowney in. That kid is fast and probably wants to play more than those other jokers. Jets nees some WR's with heart and that actually give an effort.

Time was right to fire ManginiHere Here I watched the game and in no way a Jets fan, but I believe it was Farve who threw two interceptios, one for a pick 6! Not to mention the one later when he thought he was being cute and tried to catch the defense off gaurd and who knew interception. Look at Farve's past 5 games and it was typical Farve play. He has always thought he could throw the bll anywhere nd for a time he could, now he is a liability to any team. time to let it go. Unfortunatly Mangini last his job because of him.

Time was right to fire ManginiMangini knows his X's and O's and is a genius in some respects. What he lacks is "heart". He shows little to no emotion and this is a negative to being a head coach. He is like the analogy of the mathematician that knows the subject but can not teach it. His ticket was up he can put a team together but can't make it go when it matters. He had individual talent but failed to perfect it as teh sum of its parts.

Time was right to fire ManginiI agree with the majority of your analysis, but as far as drafting is concerned I dont think you can say they werent good. DBrickashaw, mangold, and revis are all studs that have played nearly every game of their short careers. and Harris is a great 3-4 LB. Keller didnt look too bad either. I would say the last 2-3 years have been some of our best drafts ever. Lets not forget some players such as Rhodes that were picked up later and play significant rolls. Our problem has been and continues to be the lack of a 2nd CB. Until we get it resolved we will suck.

Time was right to fire ManginiStray_Cat, you hit the nail on the head. It looks like Favre is the new GM of the Jets.....he'll let them know if he'll play again, in due time. He'll check down any play.....see Mangini's "Why would we do that" quote after his fade pick on Primetime. Woody wants him back, and that will hold up a coach hiring.
